If you live in Lagos, read this.
I remember 2012. September into October. Bayelsa State was completely flooded.
Homes submerged. You'd sleep on your bed—wake up floating on water. Water gushing out from tiled floors like the ground was crying. We used canoes to move around.
If you find yourself in that situation, here's what I learned:
1. Build a wooden scaffold close to your ceiling. Lay planks across it. Place your mattress there—like bunk beds. It'll keep you dry when the water rises higher.
2. Stock clean water like your life depends on it. Because when the flood comes, clean water disappears. And you will search.
3. Do not—I repeat—do not send your children on errands. Not even to the next street. The current will sweep them away before you blink.
I survived 2 months like that.
You can too. But only if you're prepared.
Some of you are so mannerless, uncouth and lack emotional intelligence. That you are preview to someone’s life not to talk of your friend, doesn’t give you the right to bring it to social media to sight as an example.
A guilty person will avoid you because they know they messed up. A remorseful person will make sure you get their apology. And that's the difference between guilt & remorse the former is—completely self-focused, while the latter cares about someone other than just themselves.
After my younger sister got married before me, she stopped calling me “Sister.”
She started calling me by my first name—Rashidat.
At our first family meeting after her wedding, I drove my car. She drove her husband’s.
After my elder brothers spoke, I was about to say something
"Stop eating pepper, you have an ulcer!"
You’ve probably heard this before.
But is spicy food really the cause of ulcers? And if you already have one, does it make it worse?
Let’s break it down.
