More than 125,000 Christians have been killed in Nigeria since 2009. Often left off the page is the other number: 60,000 Muslims, killed in the same years by the same forces, for the same reason — they are considered impure by the caliphate.
I run a free school in Abuja for hundreds of displaced Muslim children, and I have called for monuments to the Muslim men and women murdered for refusing the jihad. I am on the Christian side of this fight, and I am telling you it is not a war between Christians and Muslims. It is one power structure waging war on everyone who stands in its way.
The method shows it. As documented at a terrorist checkpoint in the Middle Belt, passengers were sorted — first by faith, then by sex. Christian men were executed on the spot. Muslim men were told to join or die with them. Many chose death. The women, Christian and Muslim, were taken as slaves. That is not sectarian chaos. It is a procedure, run village by village at national scale, and it names both the enemy and the victims.
"Christian versus Muslim" is not just wrong. It misnames the enemy, drives off the allies we need, and hands the caliphate the recruiting line it wants most.
The enemy is the ruling elite of the Sokoto Caliphate — a power structure, not a faith. When Usman dan Fodio founded it in 1804, his Fulani jihad conquered the Hausa, fellow Muslims, whose rulers he judged impure; he seized their land and bent their clerics to his authority. The project paused under British rule and resumed at independence. Its heirs — the Sultanate, the Miyetti Allah networks, the political machine in Abuja — hold two centuries of consolidated power over everyone else: Christians, Igbo, Middle Belt farmers, and Hausa Muslims alike.
The Hausa are among the most brutalized people in the north, ruled by an elite they never chose. They are not the caliphate. They are its subjects, and they should be our allies.
Muslims die in this war because of the doctrine the caliphate still teaches. Dan Fodio held that anyone who helps an unbeliever is himself an unbeliever, and that a Muslim who mixes Islam with unbelief — the apostate, the one who cooperates with Christians, embrace Western education, or refuses the jihad — is a lawful target. Dan Fodio’s teachings are core curriculum in almajiri schools across the north, where millions of boys are taken from their families and raised on it with no other voice in their ears.
It is why the Sultan's condemnations of violence are not what they sound like. In Dan Fodio’s clear and revered worldview, the Christian and non-jihad Muslim are not "innocent." When he says it is “a sin to kill the innocent,” he is not telling his followers to stop killing peaceful civilians. He is telling the jihadis not to fight each other — because by this doctrine they are the only “innocent” ones. For everyone else, it’s open season.
Dan Fodio’s overarching mission -- why he founded the caliphate, the core of his teachings -- is to prepare the ground for the coming of the Mahdi. Everyone who is not “innocent” by his standards must be cleared from the land -- killed, sold into slavery, displaced, “converted,” or fully dominated. This has been the pattern there for 222 years and it has not stopped.
The enemy is not Islam, and not the Muslims who reject this wholesale. It is the ruling elite of the Sokoto Caliphate — the Sultan, his clerics, his Miyetti Allah militias, the Boko Haram and ISWAP networks built on the same doctrine, the security commanders documented arming those militias with federal weapons, and the nine-million-dollar Washington lobby that buries it under "farmer-herder conflict" and "climate change." Naming it is not Islamophobia. Refusing to name it is cowardice, and it costs lives.
The wrong name has a price. It tells 60,000 dead Muslims their lives did not count. It casts the Hausa majority — the people with the most reason to want the caliphate gone — as the enemy. It hands every wavering young man in the north the caliphate's favorite claim, that the West is at war with Islam. And it files a national security emergency under “religious freedom” — a lane of reports and démarches — when the threat carries a 222-year command structure, Chinese money in its conflict zones, and a terror pipeline that has reached American soil.
To my brothers and sisters across Nigeria — every tribe, every faith: do not let them tell you this is your neighbor's fault. The Christian shot in Benue and the Muslim shot beside him for refusing to join the killers died at the same hand. The ruling elite of the Sokoto Caliphate has spent two centuries setting you against each other, because divided you are governable and united you are unstoppable. Name the enemy correctly. Refuse the lie that this is faith against faith. Stand with the displaced until they are home, and stand with one another until the killing ends.
It is time to rise.

Saddam Hussein sat on weapons of mass destruction for years. The world knew. The intelligence community knew. And nothing happened — until Colin Powell stood before the United Nations with a vial and named it. Until the drumbeat of public awareness, congressional hearings, and named ultimatums made action politically possible. You can debate the intelligence. You cannot debate the mechanism. The drum had to be beaten before a single boot hit Iraqi sand.
The Ayatollahs have been building toward a nuclear weapon for decades. Every administration that has confronted them — Reagan, Bush, Obama's sanctions, Trump's maximum pressure campaign — did it on the back of public naming, public shaming, named sanctions, named individuals, named deadlines, and named consequences. The moment any administration softened the drumbeat, Iran accelerated. The drum is the pressure. Without it there is nothing.
Khrushchev put missiles in Cuba. Kennedy did not handle it in quiet backroom diplomacy. He went on national television. He named the threat. He named the consequence. He drew the line publicly and dared Khrushchev to cross it. The public drumbeat was not a sideshow to the Cuban Missile Crisis. It was the crisis. It was the pressure that made Soviet withdrawal the less catastrophic option.
Bin Laden operated from caves in Afghanistan for years. The intelligence community tracked him. Nothing happened — until the public drumbeat after 9/11 made inaction politically unsurvivable. "Wanted dead or alive." Named. Public. Loud. That is what authorized the hunt. That is what built the coalition. That is what put boots on the ground in Afghanistan within weeks.
Maduro runs a narco-state with Chinese financing and Russian backing. The Trump administration didn't whisper about it over diplomatic dinners. They named Maduro. Sanctioned him by name. Indicted him by name. Declared him a drug trafficker before the world. They named his Chinese and Russian enablers. They made the drumbeat so loud that Maduro's internal support began to fracture. Quiet diplomacy had achieved nothing for twenty years. The drumbeat moved the needle.
Here is the fundamental truth of political science that the diplomats-in-chief never want to admit: no politician will expend a single drop of political capital on a foreign adventure without some form of popular mandate. Not one. Not ever. The drumbeat is not the sideshow to the political process. The drumbeat IS the political process. It is what creates the mandate. It is what makes action possible. It is what transforms a foreign crisis from someone else's problem into a political imperative.
Now name one time Trump has entered a conflict — aggressively, effectively — without first stirring up public awareness, naming names, demanding accountability, and issuing public ultimatums.
Go ahead. Take your time.
You cannot. Because it has never happened.
Not with China and tariffs. Not with NATO and burden sharing. Not with Iran and maximum pressure. Not with the border. Not with the fentanyl crisis and the cartels. Not with the WHO. Not with Ukraine and European defense spending. Every single time — the drumbeat came first. The public naming. The public shaming. The ultimatum delivered out loud where everyone could hear it.
That is not accidental. That is the most sophisticated political operator of our generation understanding the first law of political pressure: governments do not move because someone asked them nicely behind closed doors. They move when the cost of inaction exceeds the cost of action. And the only thing that raises that cost is the drumbeat — loud, sustained, named, and unrelenting.
The politicians and lobbyists know this. That is why they spend nine million dollars keeping advocates quiet, calling outrage divisive, dressing cowardice up as diplomacy, and telling you the real work is happening behind closed doors.
It is not diplomacy. It is not strategy. It is not sophistication.
It is surrender. And it is working — for them.
The people dying in Nigeria's Middle Belt do not need your careful accommodation, equipping and smiling pictures with the people killing them. They need the drumbeat. Loud.
Name names. Draw lines. Issue ultimatums. Make noise. Make it politically unsurvivable to look away.
Beat the drum. Don't stop. Don't let them lull you into silence.
That's not diplomacy. That's how genocides continue.

Out of respect for the deceased, I pulled down this video of late Major General Rabe Abubakar, who in this interview trivialized the idea of Boko Haram having an open air celebration of Salah on Nigerian soil.
But on a second thought, I felt the urge to remind those like him who are right now towing the same path of intentionally denying and trivializing the stark realities of this rapidly spreading cancer called terrorism.
We must all realize there’s a limit to political correctness in the face of survival emergency, because in the end, no one is truly safe and no rank is really exempted.

As a Muslim, there's something that genuinely bothers me.
Millions of Muslims live in Christian majority countries, build mosques, preach Islam publicly, distribute Qur'ans, open halal businesses, and demand religious freedom,and rightly so.
Some even call for aspects of Shariah to be accommodated in the societies they've moved to.
Yet in some Muslim majority countries, Christians cannot openly preach the Gospel, build churches freely, or practice their faith without restrictions.
Why?
If we demand religious freedom for ourselves, we should be willing to grant it to others.
Truth does not need censorship.
If Islam is the truth, it has nothing to fear from a church, a Bible, or a Christian preacher.
You can't demand tolerance and freedom for Muslims abroad while denying the same freedoms to others at home.
The double standard needs to be called out.
The Roman emperors had a system. When the empire was rotting from the inside, when the masses were hungry and angry, when the legitimacy of the elite was beginning to crack — they handed out bread and put on games. This is Nigerian politics in 2026.
The political class hands out rice. Bags of it. At rallies. At “empowerment events.” At ribbon cuttings. The Federal Government has built an entire ministry around the distribution of palliatives. Tinubu’s office produces photo opportunities of cabinet members handing rice to villagers. The state governors hand out rice. The senators hand out rice. The legislators hand out rice. The cycle is constant. The crowd shows up. The bags are given. The photographs are taken. The hunger returns next month.
That is the bread half.
The circus half is the political theater itself.
We are told Nigeria is a democracy. We are told the parties compete. We are told the people choose. We are told that every four years the system “self-corrects” through the ballot box. We are shown the rallies. The motorcades. The campaign posters. The endorsement ceremonies. The televised debates. The candidates touring the country promising “change.”
It is theater. All of it.

The man on the left, Nuhu Ribadu, is documented to have armed the Fulani militia, and calls them his brothers. He also signed the $9 million lobby agreement to hide the genocide in Nigeria.
The man on the right, @RepRileyMoore was assigned by President Trump to investigate the Nigerian genocide. He says he’s glad to be working with the man on the left.
The targets supposedly provided by the man on the left have only hit those factions not loyal to the Sultan of Sokoto. They have not hit the Fulani militia, which is known to be doing most of the killing.

RIBADU’S SECURITY APPARATUS EXISTS TO SERVE NORTHERN ISLAMIC INTERESTS
That is not a conspiracy theory. It is what the evidence shows.
Nigeria's security apparatus has more counterterrorism technology and coordination infrastructure than ever before. In January 2024, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps received brand new surveillance drones and advanced communications equipment. Eleven months later, in December 2024, the NSCDC dedicated its Counter Terrorism Command and Control Center at national headquarters in Abuja — with much fanfare, a cabinet minister in attendance — described by the Commandant General himself as "a state-of-the-art hub for communication, coordination and intelligence sharing which would facilitate rapid response and precision in counter terrorism."
Rapid response. Precision. Counter terrorism.
So where is the rapid response when Christians are being massacred?
June 2025, Yelewata, Benue State. Advance warning received three weeks before the attack. A second warning the day before. A military base less than one kilometer away. Security forces retreated. Nearly 300 Christians burned alive in market stalls.
March 2026, Ngoshe, Borno State. Three hundred Nigerian soldiers stationed in the town. They withdrew before the first shot. Over 100 killed. 300 abducted into slavery. The government had been paying displaced Christians in Cameroon to return. They came back and were massacred.
Christmas 2023. Easter 2024. Warning after warning. Promise after promise. Body after body.
The technology exists. The warnings arrive. The forces stand down.
Now watch what happens when the same apparatus turns in the other direction.
The Nigerian government, with no hearing or deliberation, unilaterally declared IPOB — the Indigenous People of Biafra — a terrorist organization. That designation has been challenged by Nigeria's own courts. It is not recognized by any other government on earth. No international body. No Western ally. No African Union member state. Nigeria stands alone in that designation.
Unlike the jihad groups in the North the government insists on calling "bandits" and "herders," IPOB hasn't slaughtered villages, burned churches and schools, enslaved or kidnapped anyone, or displaced millions. But the government calls them terrorists, and that designation is enough.
Because with IPOB labeled terrorists, the CT-C4's counterterrorism mandate legally covers the Southeast. The surveillance drones that never seem to spot Fulani militia movements in Benue have been deployed over Igbo communities in Enugu, Imo, Anambra, and Abia. The rapid response that never materializes for burning Christians in the Middle Belt has been fully activated against political activists in Igbo-majority states.
This is not hypothetical. Federal security forces have conducted multiple military operations in the Southeast under the IPOB terrorism designation — operations with no equivalent ever mounted against Fulani militias that have killed tens of thousands and displaced millions.
The Fulani militia gets a stand-down. The Igbo get a drone overhead and a terrorism designation their own courts have questioned.
That is not a malfunction. It appears to me that is the system working exactly as designed.
Now ask who designed it.
The NSCDC Counter Terrorism Unit operates inside a Northern Muslim-dominated command structure. Its Commandant General — Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, son of an Islamic cleric — was reappointed by President Tinubu in February 2026, bypassing the established succession protocol that would have transferred authority to the most senior Deputy Commandant General, who is Igbo. Senior NSCDC officers called the situation "deeply troubling."
Audi reports to National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu. The man who publicly calls jihadist militants his "brothers." Who coordinated the arming of Miyetti Allah Fulani militias with AK-47 rifles under a federal security operation. Who personally signed a $9 million Washington lobbying contract to suppress the Nigeria genocide narrative.
The man responsible for Nigeria's counterterrorism coordination arms the Fulani militias slaughtering Christians. Oversees the apparatus that receives advance warnings of those attacks. And his forces stand down every single time.
While those same forces remain ready — legally authorized, technologically equipped — to move against the Igbo at any moment, under a terrorism designation no one else in the world recognizes.
Now add Turkey.
On Christmas Day 2025, President Trump bombed ISIS in Sokoto. The following day, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi — the Northern cleric who publicly defends Boko Haram and ISWAP and serves as the government's appointed mediator with jihadist groups — issued a public demand: Nigeria must halt all military cooperation with the United States immediately. "If Nigeria wants military assistance," Gumi declared, "China, Turkey, and Pakistan can do the job effectively."
Within weeks Tinubu was on a plane to Ankara.
January 2026 — nine agreements signed with Erdogan including a Military Cooperation Protocol. April 2026 — Nigeria's Defense Minister confirms: 200 Nigerian special forces to Turkey for training. A permanent Turkish training facility on Nigerian soil.
The organization most likely to staff that facility is SADAT International Defense Consultancy — founded by 23 Turkish officers expelled from their military for Salafist ideology. Their stated mission: helping the Islamic world achieve military superpower status. Their founder declared in 2019 that SADAT exists to "pave the way for the long-awaited Mahdi." He specifically named Nigeria as a country where jihadist groups deserve protection from African governments. The US Defense Department accused SADAT of training ISIS and al-Qaeda fighters.
An NSCDC Counter Terrorism Unit operating inside a Northern Muslim-dominated command structure, under a Commandant General who bypassed Igbo succession, reporting to an NSA who publicly embraces jihadist militants as brothers, equipped with surveillance technology, and now being expanded through a Turkish military training pipeline founded by Salafist officers whose stated mission is preparing the world for the Mahdi — is not a unit whose personnel composition you would expect to be transparent or friendly to Christian communities or the Igbo people.
It is Islamic conquest infrastructure wearing a security agency's uniform.
And it is being upgraded.

The Nigerian military is taking credit for “rescuing” some 400 hostages released by Boko Haram in Ngoshe.
That is a lie, of course. Here is the word from eyewitnesses on the ground.
Soldiers delivered ransom to Boko Haram, said to be somewhere between 3 and 5 billion naira.
Only Muslim hostages were released. The Christian women and children remain in captivity.
They were being held in a village named Gavva at the shadow of Mandara Mountain, three kilometers away from the military base in Ngoshe.
That is not a rescue. That is complicity, and a wealth transfer to their terrorist comrades. It is also proof and a continuation of the ongoing Christian genocide.
