@qataharraymond Former speakers from the Commons are given life peerage to sit in the House of Lords. “Sadly” we don’t have the UK equivalent of the House of Lords so that might not be the best analogy.
PS: JB was not that liked by Boris/Tory government that’s why he was not given a peerage
Open-source isn’t just code on @github.
It’s about governance, documentation, licensing, and creating real pathways for people to contribute. It’s about who gets to make decisions and whose context is reflected in the design of the tools.
We’ve been building open #AirQuality infrastructure in African contexts, and we’ve learned that scaling in the open takes more than technical skill.
Join us as we share some of these lessons and talk candidly about why Africa is still underrepresented in global open communities.

Why is Africa underrepresented in #OpenSource development, and how do we change that?
Open-source was meant to democratise technology. Yet Africa remains underrepresented in shaping global open infrastructure.
On March 4th, we’re hosting a conversation about how Africa can expand its role in open-source infrastructure, not just as users, but as contributors and shapers of the systems we depend on.

@samagona I’m from Lango, and I believe I’m relatively educated.
It is not that people don’t want to educate themselves. I think it is a much deeper (and also very delicate) issue.
Huge appreciation to @UNEP for leading the charge!
Jane Akumu is presenting UNEP's vital work and significant strides in curbing transport emissions in Africa.
Crucial steps for cleaner air and healthier cities.
🚍 Live at our webinar “Driving Change: How Mobility Choices Shape Our Air”
@Lamataonline is sharing big strides: e-buses, CNG fleets, rail projects & safer walking/cycling paths showing how African cities can move toward sustainable mobility shaping cleaner, healthier cities.
