Falana Requests Coroner’s Inquest Into Mohbad's Death
A prominent human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), has requested a coroner’s inquest into the death of the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
This request was contained in a letter to the Chief Coroner, High Court of Lagos State, on Monday.
The letter signed by his daughter, Folakemi Falana, described the singer's death as "very tragic" and "mysterious".
Sharing the letter via her Instagram account, Falana said, "Mohbad's death stings because despite the fact that he wasn't on my radar and I never met him or knew him personally, I heard he was trying to leave his Label.
"Some of his friends reached out to me months ago for advice especially as they knew I had helped other artists negotiate leaving their record labels.
"I told them I was happy to help and they could put us in touch but they came back to me saying they were handling it. I genuinely thought they had come to an agreement. So imagine my shock and horror finding out he was being terribly harassed and living in fear till his last day.
"After speaking to some of his friends and relatives, I've written to the Chief Coroner of Lagos state to conduct a coroner's inquest. The letter was received and acknowledged today. We will continue to apply pressure till we get answers.
"I know we can't bring him back but his loved ones deserve to know what happened to him. Mohbad certainly deserves justice."

Baba Suwe said the same thing.
Mohbad of blessed memory said NDLEA gave him something to drink and some months after he died

@jidesanwoolu@NigerianPolice@NGRSenate this can not go like that
My head still just cannot fathom it.
How can you withhold someone’s royalties, deprive him of his due payments, send local dirty thugs to harass him, use social media to spin lies about him, paint the picture he’s a drug addict, oppress and traumatise him till he suddenly dies in a very suspicious manner,
Then you ignore his death for 3days, watch him buried in a dishonourable disgusting manner with his neck twisted and broken in an undersized coffin;
then you turn around after 3days of inexplicable silence to refer to him as your “brother” and that you are “shattered”- the very same person you hunted and bullied until his eventual death.
How do you see all those videos of him in pain, in tears, covered in bruises and blood and just not be broken that a human being went through all of that hell and horror?
If there’s any justice in nigeria, then Mohbad deserves justice. It may look unlikely or impossible but we would be cowards and idiots if we merely raise our hands and say nothing.
Pls demand #JusticeForMohbad
Don’t let Mohbad die in vain.
With every new video that is released, you just see more and more evidence that this boy’s life was hell until he eventually died.
Pls don’t give up everyone.
Please keep demanding #JusticeForMohbad
