Families of the victims who died in NSCDC custody in Niger State have reportedly returned the ₦100,000 tokens said to have been given by the Niger State Government, saying they cannot accept what they consider “blood money” for their loved ones, whom they allege were killed while in detention by officials.

The families are demanding accountability and justice rather than financial compensation.

It is okay not to sympathise with El-Rufai.

It is okay to hold a grudge against him for personal reasons.

It is okay not to forgive him for helping to bring Tinubu to power.

But the moment you believe that he doesnot deserve justice because you consider him unjust, you have lost it.

You are no better than him. You are all the same then.

You are all people who believe in justice only when it benefits those you like.

El-Rufai was politically and unjustly imprisoned.

He was a victim, he deserves justice, and we must demand it.

This is what principle, justice and fairness mean.
