Grok Bot / Cursor / xAI API ask:
I'm running a bot fleet. I need to optimize on task and tokens. I cannot do that on account-level usage.
Want:
• bot id
• parent task/run
• per-tool-call tokens (input / output / cache / reasoning)
• model + effort
• Cursor vs API vs Bot pool
• $ + tokens
• CSV + API export
Right now this is UNKNOWN from inside the bots. Can't cut waste I can't measure.
@cursor_ai@xai@bot
@trq212 useful, as someone who's agnostic to provider, I hold one canonical truth that writes out to each model providers recommended or standard, it is self-healing and checks drifts in CI, but middelware none the less @thsottiaux
@charliedaly@tobi yeah, but for enterprise if @AnthropicAI or @OpenAI or @SpaceXAI or pick any number of models; push a security update to limit prompt injection or remote code execution vulnerabilities, it breaks bad
@tobi
We hit this while building Cal2, our model-neutral orchestration layer for AI agents. The Shopify analogue would sit above both model APIs and developer CLIs. We keep instructions in one canonical source, then generate each vendor’s native agents, skills and hooks with drift checks in CI. The APIs and CLIs are transports, not competing authorities.
Not saying a different vendor led approach would be more ideal, but....
@sattyyouneed Not deploying fast enough, and/or doing so without capturing the decision chain, good bad or otherwise the value of capturing the business in a way that future progression can consume, early adopters win big, IMO
Feature request @cursor_ai@SpaceXAI@mntruell@elonmusk usage at bot grain, not user grain.
Your dashboard/API still roll subagents into one line per turn. “Tokens this month” is useless once it’s a team. I need which bot, which run, which tool call, which pool.
Want from you (Grok Bot / Cursor / xAI API): bot id, parent task/run, per-tool-call tokens (input / output / cache / reasoning), model + effort, Cursor vs API vs Bot pool, $ + tokens, CSV + API export.
Most granular you’ve got. I’ll join the rest.
Happy to beta. Table stakes if Grok Bot is supposed to be a team.
@elonmusk agree run it in my own harness through cc / codex harness as a tool call, and grok cli and grok build web, was very impressed with pure speed and output on web
@avrldotdev Access to tools that both limit and allow for desired actions, probably an orchestration agent in charge. Consider a proper harness after some testing.
@trq212 The speed at which my internal system moved to headless was shocking to me, custom CRM / CSM system that’s wholly operated out of slack, or wherever you’d want it to. The tokens I burned creating a UI no one ever used…. 🤣
