@dodgers_burner Question on this one for an ump. Watching that in slow motion, the swing doesn’t hit the glove till the ball is well into the glove. Zero chance that swing would have hit the ball. Should that still be CI?
Every player I ever coached was asking me the same 3 questions.
They never said them out loud.
It didn't matter what the lineup looked like.
It didn't matter what the scoreboard said.
They just needed to know 3 things.
And every leader, every coach, every parent is being asked the same ones.
Here they are.
Question #1: Can I trust you?
Trust isn't given. It's earned.
You earn it through transparency and honesty not when things are going well, but when things are hard.
How I built it:
• Do what you say you're going to do
• Tell them what they need to hear, not what they want to hear
• Show up the same way whether you're winning or losing
You lose trust fast. You build it slow.
Question #2: Can you make me better?
This one is on you as a leader.
They're not just asking about their swing or their stats.
They're asking: do you see me clearly enough to help me grow?
Question #3: Do you care about me?
This is the most important one. And you can't fake it.
You can't lead anybody if they don't believe you care about them beyond what they produce on the field.
Three questions. No stat tracks them. But they determine everything.
@ButchBaseball29 Butch, keep putting kids first, teaching and looking for ways to learn and grow along the way. Always checking your ego at the door. You do this the right way!
@_mcameron44@BBGreatMoments I’ve always felt that it’s impossible to compared different players from different eras due to so many variables that change over time. All you can do is be the best in your era. Dominate the field you are on. Control what you can control. The rest is for sportswriters.
@devenmorgan Out of curiosity, have you guys talked with the team at UW that is researching this same topic? Seems like it would be an informative discussion as they are very much in the other camp.
I would rather see us all work together to find the right solutions.
@devenmorgan This is so good! Love the varied approach. Keep it simple stupid is important but it's also critical to be able to dive in and look from a different angle when needed.
Well done dad/coach!
@CJK5H_SMU Love the fact that a teenager started that company on the premise of making a quality batting glove. Awesome how much folks will pay for that quality. Celebrate it!
@SteamboatStevie@CoachLisle I got a chance to watch Julio in person. Great kid, he just turned 13, looks and acts like it.
Also watched him turn around 95 twice. Doubt you find many 13 year olds that can do that let alone stand in the box vs 95.
Very talented kid.
@pointingdogguy@TheDataCage Mob players go through 30-40 per 162 game season.
College player will get about 120 games and inter squads in. 10 might be light.
@pointingdogguy@TheDataCage Wood bats have gotten much more expensive the past few years. 3-4 are not getting you through 50+ games plus fall and practices. Guessing 10 each minimum. So 200 @ $100 ads up
@jacksonfrandsen We could talk about the prior fraud conviction for using a sear stone to find gold. The fact he was doing that with others resources when he found the tablets. That he was using others money to survive not his own prior and during. That he conveniently found a path that was legal
@KeriTombazian@DanClarkSports Every day life in the DR. Scooters, motorcycles, dirt bikes, all on the streets. Probably more dangerous to drive an expensive vehicle putting a target on your back.
