@DeputyGrocott Unless you work at the academy where I used to work. We had one young member of staff who did all his prep before the hols and didn’t need to go into school. He was ‘reported’ to the principal by his year group colleague, and victimised from then on.
@cierzo1@ICT_MrP As union rep I spoke to our principal about this during an extremely hot spell. Her reply was that the male staff had to set an example. Meanwhile female staff were in thin cotton dresses, shorts and tops with shoe string straps!
Parting Words #5: A Changed World
In this thread, I'm going to reflect a little on the impact that the pandemic has had on children, educators & schools.
I apologise at the outset if this is sensitive, particularly for those who have experienced loss, hardship or suffering.
🧵
@ICT_MrP The day the CEO of the MAT left the headteacher’s office and he kissed both her and her (female) deputy. This was just before the takeover - and I knew that we were doomed. Might return if academies are ever abolished (please).
@SwailesRuth Had the misfortune of working for an academy principal who refused to let male staff wear polo shirts and smart cargo style pants during heatwave. Same person allowed female staff to wear shorts and string strapped tops. SHE said examples had to be set!
@etaknipsa Shame you can’t be like I school I know of where NOR have steadily decreased from over 350 to less than 300 - this year they have five assistant principals, and a shocking reputation!
@ICT_MrP Blimey, we weren’t even allowed to have our mobile phones in use during PPA, never mind take it at home. The principal didn’t want us ‘wasting our time’ when we should have been working. Amazing number of staff who have left since!
@TTRadioOfficial At my school (primary academy) we had to remain in the building for our PPA. Also principal would not allow us to use our mobile phones as she ‘did not want us wasting our time’, one of many reasons why I left.
@warwickmansell MATs too many people making too much money. Academy I used to work in has one principal and four assistant principals! Also numbers on roll are falling, staff turnover is constant, and principal has just appointed hubby as caretaker! Poor.
@RetirementTales A good friend left his teaching job today, same day as the academy’s caretaker. School newsletter long article and poem for the caretaker, one paragraph for my friend after more than ten years.
@ICT_MrP The butcher’s curtain in EYFS caused much hilarity when we heard ourselves saying do not lick the flaps, they are not very clean and the person in front of you may have wiped their nose on them!
@antiacademies As I’ve said before, after we became an academy we couldn’t even afford a bag of sand for our Reception classes. It still sticks in my throat that after the head and deputy did the original dirty deal, they both exchanged kisses with the CEO of the MAT!
@GillianKeegan@educationgovuk Our daughter was summoned to an attendance meeting re grandson. Yes he had missed a couple of days of school, because he suffered an injury whilst playing football, for and at the school! The only time he has been absent during the current academic year.
