Today we commemorate, among other things, Sweden’s independence under Gustav Vasa. The path to that independence was not easy and involved significant violence and warfare. Today, however, you are a peaceful and prosperous country with secure borders - may that remain true for many more centuries to come.

This is my last year celebrating your National Day as Ambassador. Next year, I will celebrate it in Israel, looking back on my time in your beautiful country, and hoping for peace in your region, in my region, and around the world.
