Colleagues have now revealed that Kiambu Level 5 Hospital surgeon Denis Masoba Nyambane, who is accused of stabbing his 30-year-old wife Mary Mwende Mutie to death at their rented house in Busacarde Plaza, had been facing a difficult domestic situation and had repeatedly complained about suffering at the hands of his wife, adding a new dimension to the case as detectives secure seven more days to detain the suspect.

The couple, who had only lived in the apartment for about two weeks, left behind a three-year-old son who was present during the incident and is now traumatised, while neighbours found Mwende lying in a pool of blood on the staircase, where she is believed to have collapsed while attempting to flee after sustaining the fatal stab wounds.

The suspect will now undergo a mental assessment at Kiambu Hospital, while an autopsy will be conducted at Kenyatta National Hospital to establish the exact cause of death, as the family and friends of the deceased mourn the loss of a young mother and grapple with the shock of the violent incident.
