I was a teacher. Hated it. No CS degree, taught myself, moved into project management and tech.
Last week I shipped my first app to Google Play, built with AI after work.
Now growing a beard while Claude automates my life so I can escape the Matrix.
Posting what works and what breaks from here on.
@iavinashtr Trying to solve one of my own problems really helped be push through. E erything you build in tutorials isn't relatable. What are you working on?
Anyone else here working a full time job, learning and building in the evenings, putting themselves out there?
I work 9-5 as teacher. Taught myself to code and just shipped my first app on Google Play Store.
Would love to connect people working hard to escape the Matrix!
@k2_build@peekly_app kind of reassuring tbh. I spent way too long polishing our onboarding screens and what actually helped was cutting a step that sat before people could read anything
@alexcooldev haha the first rejection is basically part of launch day now. on Play my holdup was the 14 day closed test, not the review itself. good luck with this one
@karakabakov_ It's going to depend what you need to keep the app running. Cloud services, external API or AI expenses, etc. If your users are technical they might not be happy paying a subscription if there are no backend costs or improvements
@acesley040618 Shipping is the key! I was in tutorial hell for months until I shipped, didn't have a clue but learned a lot in the process. What are you working on?
@raybunii Yeh, the internet definitely down plays how much actual work goes into it! I learned a lot though. Went through so many tutorials and couldn't build a single thing. What are you currently working on?
@KOF97AI I built a bilingual library of old classic literature for Korean speakers who want to study English or English speakers who want to learn Korean. I went with something familiar so I could lean on my network for user testing. I think that made the closed testing smoother!
@davuthdv Social media has made everyone think if you haven't made it in a day then you failed. It takes months, not days. The real work starts after the launch, trying to get eyes on your product. Keep it up, you will get there in the end!
@wilson_ What stopped the restart loop for me: a Play Store closed test. Once 12 real people are using a build for 14 days, abandoning it stops being an option. Which of the 1000 came closest to sticking?
@Voxyz_ai Worth pairing with real funnel data. Our biggest drop-off turned out to be an onboarding step that gated the library, not anything confusing in the UI. Curious whether the subagents catch flow problems like that or mostly UI friction.
