"When something of that scale occurs and it is occurring in real time... it is important to be present and to investigate"
After October 7th, Dr. Alice Jill Edwards, the UN Special Rapporteur on torture, funded her own trip to Israel to witness and document the horrors of Hamas's massacre.
For some reason, her instincts weren't shared by other UN officials.
"I understand I’m the only Special Rapporteur who has ever requested to go to the Israeli mission to see the video and the documented evidence," she said at a recent event.
From what she witnessed, she crafted a letter about Hamas's crimes on October 7th. But: "There was a campaign to prevent that letter from going out. There were weeks of being bullied and deterred from writing it and telling me that everything in it was false."
Edwards was forced to edit the letter, even though it was based on her own research. "The letter shrank considerably."
In the end, she said, "it was only signed by the Special Rapporteur on summary extrajudicial killings and me," she said.
She said the "Rapporteur" position at the UN is being abused: "In the past we were this agile group forty years ago or thirty years ago of people that were supposed to be able to react actively and quickly to various issues that are going on in the world. Now we are being pushed to coordinate amongst one another."
"Authoritarian and totalitarian governments don’t like the special rapporteurs, so they have created their own special rapporteurs and they fund them," she said.
"We all want the UN to be a robust but also honest and objective body and if it can’t do the job, then maybe we do need to start thinking about what replaces it. That is a very worrying scenario."

NHS SENT A DOCTOR A £180,000 BILL FOR REPORTING A PATIENT DEATH
A heart patient died at an NHS hospital. A doctor said it was avoidable. Nobody told the coroner.
That doctor was Dr Usha Prasad, the only female consultant cardiologist at Epsom and St Helier University NHS Trust.
She raised the alarm. She named it. She refused to stay quiet.
So the trust built a case against her. Forty-three clinical complaints, assembled and handed to the GMC to finish her off.
An independent cardiologist reviewed every single one. He found nothing wrong.
The GMC cleared her and revalidated her licence to practise.
The trust had thrown everything at her and come back empty-handed.
And then... they sent her a bill. Not just any bill. A £180,000 costs demand, which would be the largest ever imposed on a whistleblower at a UK employment tribunal.
Costs are awarded against claimants in fewer than 1 in 2,000 tribunal cases.
Dr Prasad apparently made the cut.
The former CEO reportedly offered her a deal: walk away, drop the whistleblowing claim, and he would make the disciplinary process disappear.
She said no.
What followed was years of hearings, cancelled proceedings, and a consultant so mentally broken by the process that she sometimes could not attend her own case.
Her colleagues described her as skilled, patient-centred, and well-liked. Nobody questioned her ability until the moment she questioned the trust.

@Ustroopss Well, that is the typical HR solution. If the last Labour GE Manifesto was his job specification, the team leadership of his cabinet (also called a 'government') is continuing to disappoint & fails the UK on all domestic issues.
@Ustroopss None of the above. Jesus was Jewish . Christianity, as practised today, was an interpretation by the first synod at Nicaea, intended to divorce its practises from Judaism - new calendar, new festivals, bad translation and interpretation of the Torah, etc.

@benonwine Given that there have been 66,000 Islamist Terror Attacks Globally since 1979-2014,causing over 250,000 deaths, describing Islam as "A Religion of Peace" is absurd. Those figures are on Google.Anyone can check them!
Sounds like William's been listening to his Dad a bit too much?
🇬🇧 There is a generation of young British people who have never known what it feels like to live in a country that actually works for them. Cannot find a job. Cannot afford a home. Cannot afford to learn to drive. Cannot afford to start a family. And the people responsible for every single one of those failures are currently debating how to stop them using social media. RT if this generation deserves so much better than this.
@Oct7NeverForget 💔❣️Our Dear Pilot Friend Oleksandr, we will never forget You! At 27 years old, YOU ARE A TRUE HERO OF OUR OWN, OF WHOM WE ARE VERY PROUD AND WE WILL CARRY YOU IN OUR HEARTS ALWAYS, TOGETHER WITH YOUR GRANDFATHER!!!💔❣️
❤️NEVER FORGET!!! NEVER FORGIVE!!!❤️
Ukraine Has Lost a True Hero
A pilot of Ukraine’s 40th Tactical Aviation Brigade, Oleksandr, was killed while carrying out a combat mission.
Flying a damaged F-16, he penetrated deep behind enemy lines and delivered devastating strikes against Russian positions. Within minutes, his bombs destroyed a column of military vehicles, command posts, and concentrations of enemy personnel. Pilots who witnessed the mission later described the sortie as phenomenal.
As Oleksandr was turning his aircraft back toward friendly territory, it was struck by an enemy missile.
He did not have time to eject.
The pilot was only 27 years old.
From the very first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Oleksandr, alongside legendary aviators—including Hero of Ukraine Vyacheslav Yerko, known as “Beekeeper,” and others—helped save aircraft from enemy strikes at the Vasylkiv airbase.
In recent months, he had been continuously operating over eastern and southern Ukraine, providing air cover for Ukrainian troops and carrying out precise strikes against enemy targets.
He was credited with 160 destroyed targets. Oleksandr was considered one of Ukraine’s most skilled pilots in the use of French-made AASM Hammer guided bombs. Thanks to pilots like him, countless Ukrainian soldiers on the ground survived.
He often said that he fell in love with the sky because of his grandfather, who had dreamed of becoming a pilot but never had the chance.
Oleksandr fulfilled his grandfather’s dream.
He became a legend for all of Ukraine. 🇺🇦🕯️
It is time to end this war. But Russia’s ruler wants to keep fighting. That is why Ukrainian sanctions against this aggression are working. Last night, our drones covered a distance of about 1,000 kilometers to the St. Petersburg region – to the enemy navy’s arsenals and a base in Kronstadt. Our long-range sanctions also reached about 500 kilometers into the Krasnodar region – and hit an oil depot. These are important results of the joint efforts by warriors from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine. Russia must end its war and stop its attacks on life. Any manifestation of injustice against Ukraine will receive a just response. I thank our warriors for their precision.
@KobeissiLetter The question is,'What will be the resulting change in interest rates?'
As some technical stocks are heavily geared, an increase in rates will jncrease borrowing costs and reduce profits.
Farage was heckled today at PMQs for stating that millions of people across Britain are upset and angry about two-tier policing. Is he right?
Yes or no?
A little boy goes to his dad and asks:
'Dad, what's Politics?'
Dad says, 'Well son, let me try to explain it this way:
I am the head of the family, so call me The Prime Minister.
Your mother is the administrator of the money, so we call her the Government.
We are here to take care of your needs, so we will call you the People.
The nanny, we will consider her the Working Class.
And your baby brother, we will call him the Future.
Now think about that and see if it makes sense.'
So the little boy goes off to bed thinking about what Dad has said.
Later that night, he hears his baby brother crying, so he gets up to check on him.
He finds that the baby has severely soiled his nappy.
So the little boy goes to his parent's room and finds his mother asleep.
Not wanting to wake her, he goes to the nanny's room.
Finding the door locked, he peeks in the keyhole and sees his father in bed with the nanny.
He gives up and goes back to bed.
The next morning, the little boy say's to his father,
'Dad, I think I understand the concept of politics now. '
The father says, 'Good, son, tell me in your own words what you think politics is all about.'
The little boy replies,
'The prime Minister is screwing the Working Class while the Government is sound asleep. The People are being ignored and the Future is in deep shit.'
🚨STARMER’S BLATANT HYPOCRISY EXPOSED! 🤔
Perfect example of Two-Tier Keir.
Video 1 (2020): Starmer viciously attacks Trump for his response to the rioters after George Floyd’s death, calling it an “affront to humanity” and defending the unrest as “peaceful protests” by people “rightly demanding justice”.
“Like you, I was shocked and angered by the killing of George Floyd. And the response of President Trump and US authorities to the peaceful protests, to people rightly demanding justice, has been an affront to humanity.”
Video 2 (Today): Starmer condemns the “disgraceful” rioters in the wake of Henry Nowak’s tragic murder and his shocking treatment by police.
“No matter the pain we feel, there is no justification for violence and disorder. Let me be clear, we will ensure anyone found engaging in disorder meets the full force of the law.”
Why the blatant double standard, Keir?
Either rioting is bad or it isn’t?
You’re “shocked and angered” and label Trump’s crackdown an “affront to humanity”… but now you’re cracking down hard when people “demand justice” after Henry Nowak.
Are you the “affront to humanity” for condemning these rioters?
Two-Tier Keir exposed for the world to see.
