Gianni Infantino surely cannot survive as FIFA president now. UEFA, AFC and CONCACAF have begun preliminary discussions about the possibility of organizing competitions among themselves to ensure that players can continue to compete - such as in the Women’s Under-20s World Cup which starts in less than a month - and are not impacted by the ongoing crisis surrounding Gianni Infantino.
The message from the three confederations to Infantino is very clear. He is being given the opportunity to resign and leave his position with dignity. He has the opportunity to go now and should not seek re-election in March. Because the pressure, the heat and the headlines are not going away. Change has to come. Infantino has to go.
The BBC did a terrific World Cup 2026 Closing Montage, & thankfully, for the benefit of anyone who missed it, & the rest of the world & anyone who doesn’t realise how lucky we are to have them, here it is: https://t.co/A2X68LAeIz via @YouTube
Messi is just as disgraceful as the likes of Fernandez & Tagliafico; even though he doesn’t administer the brutal fouls himself, using his status, as captain, as a smaller man who uses skill more than strength, & his reputation as a saint, he’s 1st to seem to influence the ref.
Afortunadamente no coló.
‘It was crap’: Wayne Rooney’s candour helps BBC in World Cup final TV battle
I didn’t watch any ITV last night, but enjoyed the BBC’s ability to criticise the poor quality of football, Spain’s caution, Argentina’s negativity, & embarrassing entertainment! https://t.co/h78RGv9qBi
I’d rather have gone out in the semis than reached the final and put up the show Argentina have. Zero shots for 110mins and countless niggly, cynical, nasty fouls. Just a repellent bunch who’ve disgraced themselves on the biggest stage.
No shots on target ✅
Ratboy sent off ✅
Trump has to present it to a country he slagged off ✅
Argentines spending $40k on a ticket to watch that ✅
Tears everywhere ✅
This doesn’t feel like the World Cup final. It’s all very weird. Just feels like some football is occasionally taking place around some random nonsense and shouting
It’s depressing how slow, ponderous & cautious Spain are, far too slow in their buildup, as I’d DEARLY love for this Nasty, Negative & Dirty Argentina side to be thoroughly beaten!
Tuchel brought Mainoo having never picked him in a competitive game. And even now he still has never picked him in a competitive game. Not clear what the point of his being here is.
Been really positive on Tuchel’s impact on this team from the bench in this tournament. Even when he got it wrong against Norway he got it right not long after. But going that defensive with so long left gave Argentina opportunities they weren’t making themselves. What a waste.
