Bro got CTE from a knee injury 🔥🔥🔥
They did all this, didn't even win the game, claimed moral victory, boasted about a title challenge, sacked their coach, lost to us 3x in a row afterwards, sacked their coach again, watched us win the league and then finished 10th. Lovely stuff.
Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank diverted a spring that was a lifeline for the Palestinian village of Fasayil, cutting irrigation pipes in June and converting it into a tourist attraction, leaving nearby farms barren https://t.co/yzqIHVNnla
His dad battling an illness and he was dealing with the nastiest hate campaign to his name while dragging his team to the final
Everyone owes this man an apology
@erikjornelas Agreed, there can be multiple deserved winners. Think Mbappe’s one of them but his quiet semi final lets him down IMO. And we’ve typically seen it given to someone participating in the final most of the time
I don’t hate the Rodri golden ball win. I think he was immense for Spain, deserved to a degree.
But 12 G/A in 8 games at 39 years old… dragging this 🇦🇷 team to a final is ARGUABLY the greatest carry job at a world cup we’ve ever seen since ‘86.
That’s what I call voter fatigue
Im not asking you to understand the politics and diplomacy. What I want you to understand is the Argentine psyche.
Imagine being born and everyone around you holds contempt for England. Perhaps for a war you didn’t experience. But your parents did. They might know someone who died. Or a veteran.
You’re taught at a young age “Las Malvinas son argentinas.” Maradona in 86. It wasn’t cheating, it was REVENGE. They stole from you, so you steal from them.
Scaloni downplayed the historic significance of this match. But for the people of Argentina, that’s impossible to do. There’s a complex, broken relationship with England that is innate in Argentine culture. It’s part of the national identity.
44 years have passed since then. Of course, some hatchets have been buried and olive branches have been extended in this globalized world. But deep down inside, this football victory just means a little bit more.
