Delete chats, call history: Siya, Chetan threatened friend in Ketan murder case

A beautician friend of accused Siya Goyal was allegedly threatened by Siya and Chetan Chaudhary after her photograph was misused to create a fake Instagram account and lure Ketan Agarwal to Lohagad Fort, according to her statement to police. The friend allegedly told investigators that she was warned that she would be implicated in the murder and was asked to delete messages and call records related to the incident.

According to the statement, Siya had contacted the woman towards the end of May and told her that she did not want to marry Ketan and was in a relationship with Chetan. The woman also told police that Siya spoke about an earlier attempt on June 14 to take Ketan to Lohagad and allegedly push him into the gorge.

One of the witnesses in the probe into the death of Pune-based realtor Ketan Agarwal has emerged as a key lead for the investigators as he claims that he saw Chetan Chaudhary, one of the three accused, push the 26-year-old off the cliff at Lohagad Fort, according to police sources.

The person, whose identity remains undisclosed, also alleged that he was later threatened with a similar fate. He approached the police on June 23, five days after the incident, and got his statement recorded, sources said.

Lawyers Association For Constitution writes to Chief Justice of India Surya Kant raising concerns over the manner in which Noida DM Medha Roopam's petition was listed.

The Association alleges that her petition was "specially assigned to a particular bench" despite the prevailing roster.

Highlighting that Medha Roopam is the daughter of the Chief Election Commissioner, the Association says preferential treatment to a matter sets a wrong precedent.

"The special listing before a particular bench has not enhanced confidence in the judicial process," the letter says.

The Association also flags the muting of the live procedings.

The issue is regarding the petition filed by Medha Roopam challenging the Allahabad High Court's order criticising her for ordering the detention of a student under the National Security Act in connection with the Noida workers' protest, and asking her to pay Rs 5 lakh compensation.
