But I’m not going to carry hatred in my heart because of one incident.

Football is supposed to bring people together. We can fight for our clubs, compete for our teams and even have heated moments on the pitch — but when the final whistle goes, we should still remember that we are human beings first.

I respect what Rodrigo has achieved with Argentina. Winning the World Cup and Copa América is incredible. But those achievements don’t give anyone the right to look down on another footballer.

And I don’t need to respond by insulting him back.

Maybe that is the biggest difference.

I felt bad about what happened, but I won’t hold a grudge.

Football is bigger than hatred. Bigger than one argument. Bigger than one sentence said in anger.

When I arrived you thought we had lost the final on penalties. We couldn’t talk about any of everything that happened. You couldn’t enjoy anything.

We weren’t champions, but you have no idea how much we enjoyed every single match. Once again, you were right: I had to be there and play it.
