Shoutout to @OnPointUnited for staying out in the cold and delivering services in East Harlem, despite being shut out by @_OnPointNYC.
Those in that union are almost entirely “lower-level” staff who do 90% of the work to keep the OPCs & drop-ins going.
They deserve much better.
Unionized OnPoint healthcare workers @OnPointUnited walked out yesterday after mgmt illegally fired a worker for union organizing. This morning, OnPoint locked workers out of the building. Bring hand warmers, food, and solidarity to the picket all day today at 104-106 E126th St!
Last week our brave members at @_OnPointNYC showed their solidarity with one another as they fight for a first contract that respects workers and delivers the best support services for NYC's marginalized communities.
We will not be intimidated or threatened into silence while management picks us off one by one. We are stronger together!
Several ULPs are already in the works and our building is abuzz with whispers of solidarity.
🚨 HAPPENING NOW: 🚨 A number of our East Harlem workers have walked out in protest of the abrupt and illegal firing of an organizer merely ONE DAY after she led a successful flyering activity. HR was onsite immediately, taking names and demanding that workers leave the premises.
This week our Washington Heights staff came together to build worker power and make our voices heard through an interactive flyer activity! Here are some highlights:
We’re still here, and still fighting for a fair contract! Please read and share this firsthand account of our struggle to reach an agreement with management https://t.co/u35cpT2jlR
Proud to contribute to 70,000 workers organized in 5 years with @OnPointUnited@UnitedPavement and UVM Sodexo workers in New England at @unitehere convention!
Harm reduction is a labor of love. We are determined to do our part to build a movement that loves labor back.
With that being said… who’s next? 👀 Unionize harm reduction!
Since November, we have been bargaining with management for a fair contract at @_OnPointNYC. We are pleased to report that so far, the organization is negotiating in good faith. Our hope is for a contract that can serve as a proud standard-bearer for the harm reduction movement.
With the news of Rhode Island’s progress on opening their state-sponsored Overdose Prevention Center, we know that our work and that of our forebears is paving the way for change across the country. We are committed to fighting for the rights of the workers who make it possible.
Congratulations to @onpointunited for winning recognition! The Office of the Comptroller is here to help.
Workers who provide much needed social services deserve respect and dignity on the job (as the 2021 NYC non-profit labor peace law established).
A special thank you to @NYCComptroller for navigating new city laws on organizing in the human services industry with us. We look forward to continuing to work with your office as we organize the rest of the industry, and quickly secure a good contract.
