If the jays are gonna make the playoffs its gonna be on the back of Big Ern and the Babe Schneider. Hopefully some of the other bats can take some notes
Now if flyers Get Carlsson at 18 and have to clear a bit of caps space that's less impact full because they flyers Dcore is intact. And no other major departures that havnt been filled adequately. Flyers can improve with/ with out Carlsson. Ducks are taking a step back either way
One thing that gives me hope that Ducks aren't going to match is that thier Team that won a round in playoffs has already lost 4 d men who played significant time for them last year. If they match they will have to ship out one of 3 vet forwords who are good veterans presence.
We have tendered an offer sheet to Anaheim center Leo Carlsson. The offer is a five-year contract worth an average annual value (AAV) of $18M, which would require four of the Flyers first-round draft picks in each of the next four seasons as compensation. https://t.co/nfhD4h6nEc
Or maybe the sign cutter to a bridge deal to keep average below 10. But that solves the issue for up to 3 years. Then brings in another Offer sheet potential after Cutter expires especially if he continues to put up 40 goal years.
This is where my mind keeps going. VERBEEK said I'll match any offer. But he probably wasn't expecting 18 million dollars. They have to match but that's still an insane contract. Love the balls on Danny B
"According to several sources, the Ducks and Carlssonโs representatives held a call hours before the offer sheet dropped. Anaheimโs offer was believed to be between $12-$13 million."
@JameyBaskow@PuckPedia I think they just put his contract with the ducks untill they match or dont. They also have Barrett Hayton with Utah Hockey club
This isn't a smart offer sheet by the Flyers, unless you are confident ANA will match. If they don't you don't have a 1st for four years and too much AAV for one player.
Offer sheets, like Hayton, Broberg, Holloway, are better when AAV and picks aren't too restrictive.
Everyone is so fast to say the ducks will match... but i feel like they said that think no way some team was gonna go north of 13-14 mil. This is how you properly offer sheet a player. Go big or go home.
๐Per my conversations earlier in the week with sources, the @AnaheimDucks were hoping to be between 10M-12M AAV for Carlsson & Gauthier, knowing Sennecke will be next in line, the @NHLFlyers have now come off the top rope. This also impacts Bedard & Celebrini. #HockeyX
@phillyaws@charlieo_conn Im not debating that at all. They have a roster that could get the. Back to the playoffs and if they made/ make a few more upgrades that could would change to a definite.
Toronto can probable offer includes the best player (knies). Tampa offer is gonna be un inspiring. Flyers offer could wild. Tippet, foerster, York, 1st round picks (tor/ own), prospects and of course maybe Michkov. If he is open to philly no reason Danny shouldn't be all in.
When I look at the potential packages from either Tampa Bay or Toronto, I think Philadelphia can easily beat both of them, in my opinion. Very curious to see where Werenski ends up being traded.
Dvorak played at a decent 3nd line center last year. The idea is and should be to find a legitimate top 6 center so dvo becomes the 3rd C. And if he continues his strong play the flyers become a really Deep team at C.
And that is what the fans are so angry about and that okay. The issue is sometimes that strategy looks really bad no matter when you look at it. GALEXY BRAIN picks look great only in hindsight when they work.
The flyers drafting since Danny took over has been so wild at a glance. Michkov, Bonk, Luchenko, Martone, Nesbit, and now Sokoloski. 2 have been BPA. 4 have not. The flyers are trying to draft who the best player is gonna be and sometimes it's not who the best player is at draft
