People usually buy cars based on their country's demographics, weather, humidity, and road conditions. I don’t think Nigerians take these things into consideration before buying cars.

Classism has made people buy car types that they cannot maintain when their source of income starts declining.

That’s why you often see cars catching fire while in transit or abandoned at mechanic shops because owners couldn’t afford the maintenance fees.

@maxnonso Even during COVID lockdown, some of us had to be sharing money & foodstuff to the boys in our area, cuz if those guys can't make money & start getting hungry, we'll be in trouble & won't be safe...so yes, it's more than making money & being able to afford living well in Nigeria.

This is what some people don't understand.

A harsh economy doesn't stop being harsh because you're personally comfortable.

You may afford ₦5,000 per litre fuel today, but can you buy security, stable institutions, peace of mind, and a functioning society?

When millions of people are pushed into poverty, everybody eventually pays the price one way or another.

That's why I find it strange when people celebrate bad policies simply because they're benefiting in the moment.

No nation prospers when only a few people can survive while the majority are drowning.

A society where most people are desperate is dangerous for both the poor and the rich.
