We reached a milestone today: our 1,200th food parcel delivered. This service to Reading's vulnerable has helped 1,600 adults and 500 children. If you need help or know someone who does, call us Monday to Saturday or register at https://t.co/PWy3EYcmkf
Our redeployed Council staff run the One Reading Community Hub 7 days a week, providing food parcels to the most vulnerable. Jamie, normally a chef at The Hexagon and now in charge of packing, explains what a call to the Hub on 0808 189 4325 can provide... #rdguk#coronavirus
"My time still consists of walking round with a trolley collecting boxes, the only difference being they’re boxes of food rather than archives!"
One of our Archivists is currently preparing essential supplies for those in need w/ @ReadingCouncil's One Reading Community Hub.
We want to thank our fantastic staff at @readingcouncil, @livingreading, @onerdgcommunity hub and @BFfC_Child for their hard work supporting the #rdguk community during COVID-19. Take a look at just a few of the things that have been achieved so far.
@SightlossRAB@ReadingCouncil Thanks for taking the time to post this - it's really good to know that we're making a real difference to those in need right now.
Thank you @OneRdgCommunity! Yesterday our outreach team discovered that one of our vulnerable service users had run out of food and had no way to get any so referred them to the Hub - a food parcel was delivered straight away 🙂 They’re so thankful @ReadingCouncil ❤️Reading #Rdg
On Easter Monday our One Reading Community Hub, made up of redeployed staff from within the Council, is working to deliver food parcels to those in need. Our drivers include people like Tim, for whom this is not his normal day job as he works @Thehexagon and @southstreetarts .
The One Reading Community Hub, looking after the most vulnerable residents who need food, prescriptions and support, is run entirely by redeployed Council staff. This is how it works., described by one of the team. Phoneline open over BH weekend 9am - 1pm. #rdguk#coronavirus
@PSCRuth @DeejR50@juliette_ward@_LisaCherry@wotters We're always on the lookout for more volunteers. If you think you can help , just call our Support and Volunteer Line on 0808 1894325 or fill in the online form https://t.co/rjdpWsXDXT with details of what support you can offer.
@ReadingCouncil@GaryHuntley11@JN_Brock @rva_news Thanks for the DM details. Apologies again for the confusion - at present we do need residents to call us each time they need support from @OneRdgCommunity - but we are reviewing this and we will work swiftly in the coming weeks to improve the service.
Our latest podcast talks @OneRdgCommunity hub, volunteers, how we are getting packages out and how to identify & help vulnerable people in your community - https://t.co/Qpcs9OyYVF you can also listen on Spotify - https://t.co/m0JrdJUZMd
@ClaysHyderabadi Thanks for your offer of assistance @ClaysHyderabadi - very much appreciated. As you can imagine, the hotline is very busy but do keep trying - or you can fill in the online form https://t.co/7DpXeh7LRC and one of the dedicated team will get back to you as quickly as possible.
@PopesRay You're very welcome. We're glad to help, and to put our residents' minds at ease with a smile on our faces. One Community by name, One Community by nature.
@OneRdgCommunity Thank you for the delivery you gave my mum today guys. The young man was very polite and happy considering the demand you must be under. You have put an old lady's mind at ease during mad times. thank you and stay safe 💕
@JGTherapyTweets Thank you so much 🙂
So many people from all over Reading are giving so much to make this work, and it's heartening to know it's appreciated.
A quick update on opening times - the phoneline will be operational between 9am-1pm this Saturday 28 March.
And starting next weekend (4 & 5 April), it'll be open both Saturday and Sunday, too. So help will never be too far away.

The One Reading Community Hub has already delivered over 150 food parcels to in need households, but that isn't all the Hub can help with. Here's Cllr Jason Brock, with an update on how else the Hub is assisting residents, and how you can get in touch. #rdguk#coronavirus
