Under the Green Mayor Lewisham has lost a £1.5bn town centre plan.
1,700 homes. A park the size of a Premiership pitch. A music venue. 300+ trees.
Approved under Labour. Shaped by 2,500+ residents.
Landsec says the Greens’ refusal to back the next phase is part of why.
London Left NIMBYs managed to save this glup shitto shopping centre in Lewisham from being redeveloped into housing because ‘not enough council houses’ because as we know, the more you block market rate housing, the more affordable housing you get.
Lewisham Shopping Centre’s redevelopment has been halted.
£1.5bn of investment, 329 affordable homes and up to 1,900 jobs, gone.
@Ese_Journo warned the Mayor his approach risked driving Landsec away. He dismissed it.
Residents deserve an apology and a plan

In a another project Landsec’s O2 Centre redevelopment, Camden approved a scheme in 2023 with 570 affordable homes in a development of about 1,800 homes. By August 2026, that had reduced to 330.
Landsec are crying “wolf” whilst they point the accusatory finger at LB Lewisham.
When the Green Party-led council said the social-rent provision needed to increase; Landsec said it was “deprioritising” the redevelopment, citing difficult economic conditions.

1,700 homes, a new park, a music venue and so much more. On a site where nobody lives.
Our group leader, @Ese_Journo, warned the Mayor this would happen. He called her embarrassing.
Lewisham deserves better.
The council’s criticism is specifically about the amount and type of affordable housing—particularly social rent—not simply the total number of homes proposed. The approved mix matters: discounted-market or key-worker homes are not equivalent to social-rent homes in affordability
‘Average noise’ is complete and utter bullshit.
If aviation/regulator/government can trot out one person with ears that hear average noise we may have to accept they’re right.
However, it seems they are totally full of shit.
@MichaelSnasdell Unless there is another sign specifically prohibiting a left turn and the street into which you propose to turn is not one-way (flow against your direction of travel), it should be perfectly permissible and ok to make one.
London City has published its analysis of responses to the recent consultation on shallower flight paths. Key document: https://t.co/uvjYEl5ntR City got 387 responses. 60% against; 34% in favour. City will submit its final proposals to the CAA early Sept. CAA decision late 2026.
@sainsburys you have a little time to answer this.
Has power been restored to your Bell Green/Lower Sydenham store and has it re-opened yet?

@msmadax It makes a complete nonsense of people expecting the Greenwich Time Signal to be accurate.
Across different decoder routes the timing when the user actually hears the time signal might be as long as a couple of minutes apart.
