8. How does one access OneSight services?
The Vision Centers are established within the existing hospitals in the country at (district, referral and provincial levels) and are accessed through the referral procedures set by the Ministry of Health.

In July 2021 the UN passed a resolution setting a target for vision for everyone by 2030. Rwanda has already ensured full access to eye care services for her population, and has made eye health integral to the nation’s commitment to achieving the SDGs.

5. What progress has Rwanda made in providing access to vision care?
Since 2015 access to vision care has been established in 45 hospitals at district, provincial and referral levels in Rwanda. This means, over 14 million Rwandans have access now.

Experts in eye treatment have called for more efforts to sensitize Rwandans about eye health, saying many people are not aware of good practices for keeping their eyes healthy, and some delay to seek medical care when they get sick.
