8. Tell NGOs early if you don’t plan to renew funding so they can plan
9. Make every effort to visit the work firsthand (especially internationally)
When Erin Ganju of @echidnagiving came to speak with @OneSkyGiving about #girlseducation, she shared 9 tips on being a great donor:
1. Invest larger amounts in fewer organizations
2. Consider multi-year grants
3. Ask about their biggest challenges, help them break those barriers
4. Be clear and specific on reporting and communication requirements
5. Be understanding and ask clarifying questions re missed goals or objectives
6. Give unrestricted funding (choose organizations you trust enough to know that they know where the funding should go)
