When I call them the Linda Mwananchi bandwagon of scammers, I’m accused of being a hater. But dear Gen Z, did your comrades die on the streets from police bullets so as to help old politicians like Aisha Jumwa reinvent themselves?

Linda Mwananchi is a purpose-built vehicle by Uhuru Kenyatta to recycle old state assets and reintegrate them back into government so as to continue the looting and thuggery.

Reject the Linda Mwananchi bandwagon of scammers. Reject Edwin Sifuna, Babu Owino, and James Orengo. Reject George Natembeya, who is a product of the genocidal Ministry of Interior. All these are recycled thugs.

Kilifi residents, you have suffered under the tenures of thieves like Amason Kingi, who spent your taxes on high-maintenance women. Your current governor Gideon Mung’aro is a thug who is embezzling all your money on building flats in Nairobi.

Stop taking elections for a joke. Aisha Jumwa has a murder case, and you will cry if you even consider her for office. Reject recycled NIS puppets. Prepare for a new dawn.

The Linda Mwananchi project is not a movement for the people. It is a calculated rebranding exercise for discredited politicians and state assets who have outlived their usefulness in their previous roles but are still valuable to the system.

Uhuru Kenyatta and his allies understand the power of optics. When genuine revolutionary energy threatens the status quo, the best defense is to create a controlled, “youth-friendly” alternative that ultimately feeds back into the same corrupt architecture.

Gen Z paid for this moment with blood on the streets. Your comrades were killed demanding real change - not so that the same old faces could rebrand themselves with new slogans and campaign posters.

Aisha Jumwa, with her baggage and history, is not the fresh start Kilifi or Kenya needs. She is part of the recycled elite that has kept the Coast and the country underdeveloped while enriching themselves.

The same applies to the rest of the Linda Mwananchi cast. Edwin Sifuna, Babu Owino, James Orengo, and George Natembeya represent continuity, not transformation. They are the system’s insurance policy - loud enough to appear oppositional, compromised enough to remain controllable.

Kilifi has suffered enough under the likes of Amason Kingi and Gideon Mung’aro. The pattern of mismanagement, embezzlement, and misplaced priorities is clear. Electing another recycled figure like Aisha Jumwa would be a tragic repetition of the same mistakes.

Elections are not a joke. They are not a popularity contest or a rebranding opportunity for disgraced politicians. They are the mechanism through which the people can demand a genuine break from the past.

Reject the bandwagon. Reject the recycled thugs. Demand new leadership with clean hands, fresh ideas, and genuine commitment to the people’s welfare.

The blood of Gen Z was not spilled so that the old guard could simply change jerseys. The new dawn must be built on principle, not on political convenience and state-orchestrated rebranding.

Kilifi, and Kenya at large, deserves better. The time to reject the Linda Mwananchi scam is now. The future cannot be entrusted to the same faces that failed the past.

Choose substance over slogans. Choose accountability over familiarity. Choose real change over controlled opposition. The people have the power. Use it wisely.

On the issue of IDs, looking back, the first person or people who spoke out against FGM, for sure, they were attacked, ridiculed and abused by their communities and called all sorts of names. However, because of them, today everyone agrees that FGM is wrong and the practice thankfully is being eradicated.

A normal Kenyan need not be treated as a criminal and forced to prove his citizenship hundreds of kilometers inside the Kenyan borders. That should be done at the border points. There is no law in Kenya that demands a person carry his national ID all the time. What if it just got lost, misplaced or someone simply forgot to carry it? Does that make you a criminal?

Harassing every sick person, old people, business men and pregnant women to prove their citizenship while traveling hundreds of kilometers within their country does not make sense. It is an outdated security practice that simply antagonizes communities and wastes time and manpower of our security agencies. It is also prone to abuse and extortion.

Instead of wasting money in funding politicians’ lavish lifestyles or increasing the state house budget, public funds should be given to security personnel so that they can use modern ways of detecting and stopping crime. For instance, metal detectors to detect weapons and sniffer dogs to detect drugs would make more sense than asking for IDs. Having an ID in itself does not mean the individual is not a criminal. If anything, countless reports have shown that IDs are being issued carelessly out there.

Like decades ago with FGM, we must today also challenge systems that are not anchored in law and violate the rights of the people. People’s freedoms and liberties must be jealously guarded against abuse in security operations.

In 1775, Benjamin Franklin said, “a society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both”.
