@MannyLidher Will these points be rewarded to the ones who worked as an apprentice in the trade in the past and then had to stop working because of the expiration of work permit. Or will it only be applied to the active apprentice working in the trade? What do you think?
@StevePaolasini@AskKubeir The best way to get Canadian PR is to stay at your home country, learn french in a year or two, work in an entry level job for a year and thatβs it rather than coming here and spending thousands of dollars in tuitions fees, paying taxes and all.
@ninomelikidze IRCC is clearly trying its best to clear the pool above 500, but the pool keeps refilling at an unprecedented rate. I think this issue will likely not end for at least another year or two.
@MannyLidher Looks like IRCC is trying their best to clear 500+ pool. By the way, can we anticipate a cateogory based draw after this? Or are we done for this week?
@StevePaolasini@ninomelikidze The CRS system is failing real tradespeople. Those building homes every day are being shut out by a points system that ignores labour shortages. If trades are essential to solving the housing crisis, why are the people building those homes being left behind! They must answer.
@KanwarSierah Trades are as essential as healthcare. I hope there will be at least two trade occupation draws this year. It would be a much-needed relief for tradespeople who work outside in all kinds of weather and contribute significantly to the economy.
@MannyLidher You are right. With the new rule of 12th months of qualifying experience, many might have already been disqualified for the trade draw. I hope IRCC would have considered the consequences of adding not-a-true-trade occupation in this category before they made this decision.
@MannyLidher Good to know that cooks are removed from the trade occupation, but itβs strange to see Butchers are being added in the trades. Anyway, hopefully trade draw will come down to the reasonable crs scores of somewhere between 450-460. Hopes are high this time :)
@MewiImmigration Does PR even matter for trades anymore? Tradespeople earn well and keep Canada running, yet IRCC no longer seems to prioritize us. just look at the last draw. As a tradesman, itβs frustrating to see the government turn its back on skilled trades.
@MannyLidher As of now, and likely in the foreseeable future, the most important skill Canada needs is French proficiency. It no longer matters whether you are a plumber, doctor, or engineer. The French-language category feels very similar to the study-visa floodgates opened 2 years ago.
@MannyLidher@StevePaolasini After this speech, it will be very interesting to see how they come up with the allocation of different NOCs within the category. I hope trade remains true its name rather than being oversaturated by cooks and other irrelevant NOCs.
@TheophanesRex My family doctor is one of these examples. He is highly qualified-got his MD from UK. 5-6 years of experience as a doctor. Because of this french oriented immigration system, he didnβt get his PR even after spending 4 years working in Canada. Unfortunately he is moving back to UK
@KanwarSierah@fordnation@CitImmCanada@DavidPiccini@ImmigrantON Yes, the OINP Skilled Trades stream was abused with fake payrolls: Iβve seen people doing it too. But genuine tradespeople are suffering for it now. The government should punish the fraud, not shut down a whole pathway. Find whoβs real and whoβs fake instead of hurting everyone
