Old registers, whiteboard schedules, and a binder nobody can find. Sound familiar? We see you, parish offices. This is OpenChurch, and we're so glad to finally share a first look.
@christ_dublin Those harvest decorations look lovely. The photos taken before anyone arrives are always the best ones, when you can see all the work the flower and decorating team put in. Hope Harvest Thanksgiving was a joyful one.
@heraldmalaysia A first-class relic of St Thomas for the parish's 120th anniversary is a beautiful gift. Something like that gives a parish a fresh reason to tell its own story to the next generation.
@Bernardkwiri@UCUniversity Congratulations to Ven. Rev. Dr. Paddy on the PhD in Theology. It's lovely to see All Saints and the whole archdeaconry turn out to welcome him home. A congregation that celebrates its clergy like that is a strong one.
@PiggTimothy That central claim is so true. Pastors who teach the church to care for each other end up with people who notice when the pastor is running on empty too. Congrats on finishing chapter 1, and good luck on the rest.
@stmatthewnw10@dioceseoflondon@StPaulsLondon What a lovely tradition. Knowing your parish is being prayed for at St Paul's on the same day every year, and then getting to be there for Evensong as guests of honour, must make 23 October feel like a little feast day for St Matthew's.
@IsleofManVicar Holding it in the cafe area with a bring-and-share meal sounds just right. Harvest is one of those Sundays where everyone pitching in with a dish says more than any sermon could. Lovely to hear it was so well attended.
@AutisticPriest Praying these went well, Father. A whole class learning how autistic people pray is going to help a lot of parishes welcome families better. Hope the second session got some good questions.
@adventistchurch Helping people find their gift is half the work. The other half is giving them an easy first place to serve, like greeting, the food pantry, or the tech booth, so the gift actually gets used the next Sunday.
@thecophq Desks and textbooks so kids aren't learning on bare floors anymore is such a concrete gift. The Sabuli District giving that kind of support to a school says a lot about how a local church can care for the whole town.
@baltimoresun Sixty-six seminarians is wonderful news. It's a good reminder that a full-time vocations staff and simply asking young men face to face both make a difference. Lots of parishes in Baltimore will feel this a few years from now.
One thing OpenChurch does: a printable Sunday packet. A dashboard button gathers the liturgical day, the order of worship with who's assigned, the serving schedule, the week's intentions, and the bulletin announcements onto one sheet, instead of a Thursday cut-and-paste job.
@NairobiBaptist Free mobility assessments and fittings on the church grounds is such practical love for neighbors. Hope the word travels far before Nov 11 and the line is long that day.
@ParishDMartyrs Prayer sponsors for First Communion children is such a good idea. It gives parishioners a real way to walk with the kids, and it's a nice reason to send a card or say hello after Mass.
@montviewchurch A panel with someone living with dementia, alongside care partners and members, is such a thoughtful way to close the series. Hearing it firsthand changes how a congregation welcomes people on Sunday.
@KigeziTv What a lovely way to send them off before their exams. Fifteen candidates with a special Mass at Christ the King Parish means a lot of prayers going with them. Wishing every one of them success.
@ConcordiaPub Good nudge to read the alternate Gospel too. Matthew 11 doesn't come up often, so it's a nice chance for a preacher to say something people haven't heard every October.
@lutheranaes What a beautiful altar. Somebody on the altar guild clearly loves that space, and it shows. Blessings to St James as they head into Reformation Sunday.
@PastorBenMeyer Honestly the right way to get ready for Reformation Sunday. Someone has to be strong enough to carry the extra hymnals and haul the red paraments out of storage.
@Grizzlegutweed1 That screen is stunning. Somebody in the early 1900s cared enough to bring it back, and every generation since has kept it going. Churches like All Saints North Street are a gift to the whole city.
@revpmr A whole year in Romans is a great commitment. Those long studies tend to build a class that really knows each other by spring. Hope Sunday's first session gets off to a strong start.
