“Today’s announcement is a victory for the brave survivors of the Open Justice For All campaign, and a crucial, welcome step towards real transparency in our courts. “

@Keir_Starmer Open Justice is key in society. Judges should be held to account by the public and in cases like this, when there is public outcry, there are consequences. This harrowing case is a key example to support Open Justice and publishing and making available of court transcripts.
This is why we need @OpenJustice4All the more the public understands of our “justice system” the better. Pressure like we are seeing now challenges and holds those in power to account and that can only happen when the wider public is informed.
🧵The ASA has ruled that self-swab rape kit company Enough misled women and girls.
They claimed the kits were admissible in court. They’re not.
They inflated rape statistics by 3x.
They told us we're more likely to be raped than get cancer.
The kits must now be banned.
We are incredibly proud to have been shortlisted for the first Prevention of Violence Against Women and Girls Awards amongst some amazing campaigners and survivors. 🙏 check out the full shortlist here https://t.co/M8s72qWtGO
@aliciakearns@rapeconception@enoughtoendrape It is a clear money making scheme backed by rich men who claim to want to protect their daughters. Their money would be better spent with charities. Not companies profiting from rape.
🧵Today in Parliament I used privilege to expose @EnoughToEndRape - the company behind self-swab rape kits.
They use lawyers to intimidate rape charities and threaten young women into silence.
Today that stops. #EnoughIsEnough

The hidden cost of VAWG is rarely spoken about enough. Not just the trauma - but the career setbacks, lost income, private therapy, transcript costs, health impacts and years spent trying to rebuild your life after systems fail you.
P.S I am Flora.
