It's already mid April and two of the five planned @OpenStreetsMPLS events for this summer don't even have hosts yet—including Franklin Ave in Seward.
After ending ties with @OurStreetsMpls, what is Mayor Frey's plan to ensure these quintessential Mpls summer festivals continue?

One note about @OpenStreetsMPLS funding: the organization that has put on the event for the last decade says in a press release that $250,000 is "$600,000 short of what is needed to make a five-event series next year a reality."
"After years of fostering community engagement and relationships, we remain steadfast in the belief there is no Open Streets without Our Streets.”

We are glad to find out the Minneapolis City Council passed funding for the 2024 Open Streets program.
Unfortunately, because the council relied on misinformation from the Public Works Department, the funding amount falls well short of the actual cost for hosting the events.
Good morning, and happy #GTMD23! We know there are many important organizations to support, but we hope you consider supporting our mission to make our streets places where people can easily and comfortably walk, bike, roll, and use public transit.

Beloved former Minneapolis Mayor RT Rybak agrees that losing Open Streets MPLS would be crushing.
Take action to #SaveOpenStreets - we only have a few days until City Council budget amendments are due.
