OpenZeppelin

The security standard for onchain finance. $38 trillion+ in value transferred secured since 2015 for the institutions and innovators shaping global finance.

[OpenZeppelin @OpenZeppelin]

Today we are announcing that S&P Global has entered an agreement to acquire OpenZeppelin.

Onchain finance is growing from an emerging market into core financial infrastructure, and the standards and rails our team and community built are becoming the rails of global finance. OpenZeppelin smart contracts facilitated over $37 trillion in value transferred, with the vast majority of the largest DeFi protocols, blockchain networks, stablecoins and tokenized funds relying on them.

With S&P Global, we expect to accelerate the impact of onchain finance, backed by more than a century of trust in global markets, benchmarks, and risk frameworks.

To our clients and to all the users of OpenZeppelin open source tools:
• OpenZeppelin Contracts and all our open source applications and tools remain open source, free, and publicly maintained on GitHub. Building open source standards stays a core priority.
• Audits, engineering work, and ecosystem programs continue with the same team, brand, quality, and customer experience, with what will be the added benefit of S&P Global's research capacity, market data, and institutional reach.

For the last decade, OpenZeppelin has set the security standard for onchain finance. Today begins a new chapter for that mission, together with one of the most trusted names in global markets.

Private @0xMiden accounts keep only a commitment onchain. So how do @joinBread multisig cosigners stay in sync?

Guardian stores & validates state deltas offchain and cosigns the transaction as an independent check the ZK proof requires. It can’t move funds alone.

[Chainlink @chainlink]

NEW: @OpenZeppelin, which S&P Global agreed to acquire, embeds Chainlink into its tooling standard used by the vast majority of the industry, including BlackRock, WisdomTree, Franklin Templeton, and more.

Chainlink CCIP, CRE, & ACE are now built into the tools behind $38+ trillion in transferred value.

[OpenZeppelin @OpenZeppelin]

Now native to OpenZeppelin tooling:

• CCIP for secure cross-chain token deployment
• ACE for compliance policies that evolve without redeploying

Coming next: production-grade institutional solutions powered by CRE.

Today we’re announcing a strategic partnership with @chainlink

Chainlink CCIP and ACE are now natively embedded across OpenZeppelin tooling, giving institutions and developers one trusted foundation for moving assets and operations onchain.

Onboarding trillions of assets onchain is a shared effort across standards, infrastructure, and security.

OpenZeppelin is proud to be part of the Tokenized Asset Coalition, contributing the foundations institutions need to bring finance onchain with confidence 🔒

[Tokenized Asset Coalition @TACoalition]

Very excited to announce we're welcoming 12 new members.

Another step toward our mission of onboarding the next TRILLION of assets onchain.

With the SEC opening the door to tokenized stock trading onchain:

- We've added a regulated broker-dealer building lending against tokenized NMS stock
- We're deepening our DeFi bench with leading lending protocols and onchain asset managers
- We've brought on the infrastructure tokenization runs on: smart contract security, onchain accounting, blockchain data and self-custody
- We've expanded into Canton, an ecosystem institutions are adopting quickly
- We're strengthening our research and policy work with two of the most respected standards and policy groups in the space

We also unveiled the Global Access Protocol (GAP) today, a framework for making tokenized securities composable in DeFi. More on this next week.

Thank you to our returning members, alums and partners for continuing to build this with us!

Exploits rarely start and end in the code. Technical flaws, operational gaps, and human behavior compound each other.

Groundwork is in Washington DC on purpose.

The rules for this industry are being written here. The students who will spend their careers working under those rules are at universities across the city. Groundwork puts both in one room for an afternoon.

Co-hosted by 1inch Forward and the @BlockchainAssn, during @dcfintechweek.

Seven panels and six roundtables. Speakers from @RobinhoodCrypto, @Uniswap, @circle, @digitalasset, @FireblocksHQ, @OpenZeppelin, @trmlabs, @Dune, @Alchemy and @CertiK. Faculty from Columbia, NYU, Rutgers and George Mason. Students moderate two of the main stage panels.

Most tokenized assets can't move beyond where they're issued, because no other environment recognizes the holder.

ONCHAINID v3 makes identity a smart account the holder carries, recognized wherever the asset goes.

[OpenZeppelin @OpenZeppelin]

For regulated institutions, going onchain can't mean putting positions and strategies on display. Confidentiality is the precondition to tokenize at scale.

Great to co-host this in Zurich with @cmta_ch, with our own Smriti Verma setting out the institutional exposure problem.

[CMTA @cmta_ch]

How can regulated institutions tokenize securities without putting their positions, clients and strategies on display?

We explored this topic in Zurich on Monday with @OpenZeppelin at "Confidentiality in Regulated Onchain Markets".

Highlights👇

[OpenZeppelin @OpenZeppelin]

For a regulated euro stablecoin, compliance has to be enforced in the smart contract itself.

OpenZeppelin secured EURXT code together with the off-chain procedures governing it for Crédit Agricole CACEIS, ahead of issuance under MiCA.
