Italian football will never evolve. Clubs keep rotating between the same old managers. Zero progress, zero tactical innovation. How does Sarri, Allegri, Spaletti and Gatusso still get top jobs in 2026? Apart from Comp and Inter , football in Italy is dead
๐จ๐ต Napoli have held new direct talks with Massimiliano Allegri this morning. President De Laurentiis and director Manna both involved.
Allegri has confirmed his availability to accept a two year contract if Napoli pick him.

France are favorite because they have a coach that understands how to play knockout football. This attack is absurd. Mbappe leading the line with Dembele, Thuram, Olise, Cherki, Barcola, Doue, Mateta and Akliouche behind him? Thatโs goal-scoring depth most nations can only dream of. Wingers who can beat anyone 1v1, creative No.10 types, and finishers who can come off the bench and change games.
Heโs balanced this with going with midfielders that are effective tacklers, and center backs that most countries can only dream of. They donโt just have talent, they have profiles that fit tournament football perfectly. Pace out wide, physicality through the spine, runners in midfield, and defenders comfortable defending huge spaces. That combination is terrifying in knockout games because France can hurt you in transition, dominate aerially, or simply overpower teams physically when matches become scrappy.
Their flexibility is strength . They can play direct, sit deep and counter, or press high depending on the opponent. Few national teams can lose one or two starters and still bring on players of similar quality without the overall level dropping. Most countries rely on one elite attacker to carry them. France can rotate entire front lines and still field world-class players.
Deschamps also understands something a lot of international coaches donโt tournaments are rarely won by the most entertaining side. Theyโre won by teams that manage moments properly. France almost never look emotionally rattled. Even when they play below their level, they stay compact, dangerous, and clinical when opportunities appear. Thatโs why they consistently go deep in tournaments.
Some of these attackers are still improving. Olise, Doue, Barcola, Cherki, Akliouche these arenโt finished products yet. The technical level coming through this generation is ridiculous. France used to rely mainly on athletic dominance, now they have creators and manipulators between the lines as well.
If the chemistry fully clicks, this could end up being the most complete France squad of the Deschamps era.
@HalfSpaceMC Can you have a midfield trio of generalists ( say Jude, Valverde and Rice) in fact you cannot have more than one in a single effective midfield
But you can have a perfect trio of specialists ( Vitinha, Bruno and Pedri).
In football technical ability supercedes physicality
Manchester United have a clear identity under Michael Carrick.
With it looking increasingly likely he will get the job long-term, the real question is simple:
Is that identity good enough to win the Premier League and Champions League?
Below, I assess exactly that.
