Behind my house, there’s a strip of forest with a creek running between it. This creates an environmental buffer between the houses and a place for animals to find food, shelter, and water! #apesland@franklinlorax
This is a living plant, there are many different things keeping this plant a live like sun, fertilizer, and water to keep it growing. @franklinlorax#apesland
This orchid thrives in a porous dirt mix. It grows well with added nutrients and things such as moss, fir bark and tree fibers. Orchids don’t require a lot of water so it makes sense why they grow best in porous conditions. @franklinlorax#apesland
@NikkiBhima1@franklinlorax Did you know, Teddy bears are named after Theodore Roosevelt The name came from bear hunting trip when Roosevelt refused to shoot a bear!
Although this is just a teddy bear, real bears are k-strategists, meaning that they only produce a small amount of offspring to take care and raise until they can be independent. This is different from r-strategists, who mass produce offspring at a time. #apeseco@franklinlorax
Although we make our own snow here at Crystal Ridge, our environment is one very similar to the tundra biome!Especially in the winter when it gets cold, we’re able to simulate that environment and sometimes we see humans (K-Specialists) around! #apeseco@franklinlorax
These individual crickets belong to the same species and live in a specific area (their tank). Therefore, they live as part of a population. #apeseco@franklinlorax
I carpool with my friends, and by doing this im reducing fuel, carbon released into our enviormet, etc. This is helpful to our enviornment because it reduces our footprint as well. More people should carpool because it could reduce lots of things, and help our enviorntment.
@K3nna_grant@franklinlorax Very thoughtful insight on how much we as a society effect the world together. No matter how small your footprint is there are millions of others who over consume.
Wow that’s a lot of students leaving Franklin High School! I wonder how many of them are carpooling or taking the bus to help reduce their ecological footprint? @franklinlorax#apespopulation#apespop
@AG518805apes@franklinlorax Retention ponds are a good solution to runoff and help to prevent flooding. However, they are even better when they have native plants that act as a filter to help stop non-point source pollution from runoff
I live in Milwaukee so I get my water from Lake Michigan. Before it comes out of my faucet it goes through a multi-step treatment process. I make sure to turn my faucet off while i’m brushing my teeth so I don’t waste water. #apeswater@franklinlorax
I’m able to use water from my faucet to fill up my reusable water bottle. This water came from Lake Michigan, and I’m able to help the environment by using a reusable water bottle. Eventually this water will go back into the water treatment plant. #apeswater@franklinlorax
As snow melts it can cause runoff, which leads to flooding, soil erosion, and habitat disruption. Runoff from melted snow can carry pollutants like fertilizers and road salts into water sources, lowering water quality and harming ecosystems. #apeswater@franklinlorax
