The Loyal Opposition faces a significant barrier given that every criticism of the government, every effort to hold it accountable, and every comparison between its promises and its performance is being branded as unpatriotic. Journalists and commentators are not promoting patriotism; they’re trying to silence opposition, and that weakens one of the foundations of our democracy.
