A word of warning. There are two other animals roaming the twittersphere that are claiming to know Oscar. One is a lizard and the other a fat dolphin. Oscar does not endorse either of these non-otters and suspects they are Russian bots. Oscar's Opsec advice is to avoid them both.
@thepagey Same principle applies. You should be as ruthless with yourself as you are with your PhD subject, otherwise you'll just have people agreeing with you, which is ultimately useless, unless you're just after some reassurance rather than soul searching.
@thepagey It would be more accurate to say that you won't get it correct all of the time and therefore the answer is all three in varying degrees, some simultaneously. It's entirely subjective based on what others will see. One man's revolutionary is another man's G1 nightmare....
@thepagey I'd suggest your survey question is flawed. With only one positive response and two negative, the people that engage with you are going to go for the positive, thus it will reinforce your opinion that it is worthwhile. Far too simplistic. Not a good way to conduct research.

@MctaggartDaniel @OpConfusion@SRDMaguire@B4ck1n There are some whose concern for their subordinates comes a distant second to how they are viewed from above. Soldiers are occasionally viewed as a resource to burn through, like ammunition and fuel, rather than an asset.
@So3Tempest @Claikin_awa In other circles, senior officers have been saying 'take leave now, as you won't be getting any for the rest of the year'. After this is over, the attitude will be 'well you've done nothing for 3 months'. It's almost laughable if it weren't so predictable.
@CultureChangeW1@JimmyCow7 @Claikin_awa If it is, he definitely copied and pasted. No way a QDG officer can string together that many words. Although that being said, it incoherent, so maybe he did write it himself.
@Will_LAD1@CultureChangeW1@MilitaryBanter @Claikin_awa All the senior officers are on 'The Twitter' and pump out constant dross to make them seem connected. This will reach them for sure.
@SEAC_Defence If there's no nosayers, then what on earth are you talking about? Stop creating problems to solve. Thankfully this kind of thing is now entirely normal and no one bats an eyelid. Drawing attention to it is defeating the aim surely?
@thinkdefence@maj_fox The Otter is an account that calls out military accounts for a lack of Opsec and Persec. Occasionally just for being self promoting obnoxious berks. @maj_fox and the Otter have tussled before. The Otter always wins...
@thinkdefence@maj_fox The Fox has blocked the Otter for some light ribbing. We're you accusing him of losing some sensitive paperwork? What did you get....
