Analog Color for Digital Cinema | Using #patentpending tools we can retrofit any camera to “see” in the spectrum of 3 strip #technicolor (circa 1935-1955)
I don’t know that anything I’ve ever made has had as much pure creativity as what we’re doing w/ these films.
It’s really just about how we feel at that moment & what we can get done within a couple hours (at most) & that includes set up, editing & writing original music.
I came up w/ music for this on a yamaha DX, which I loved but sounded too sweet for the scene (almost like wrap up music on a TGIF show). So I ended up w/ this "electric piano by the beach" type sound on my d-05 instead which really suits it.
Just full on summer colors here
This film has way more cuts than usual for us. I normally prefer longer, immersive, takes but I knew the theme on this one would need a lot of energy so I shot a ton of inserts. There is no set style for these films, only a set vibe.

The music in this one almost feels pastel to me, matching the colors. This one was inspired by a 50’s ELLE cover & while this isn’t a recreation of that, we ended up using some 50’s era lenses for it.

These films are really a joy to make. We usually only have an hour to film them, they’re all made on the same 8x10 “stage”. The music is written/recorded the night before or just after shooting
Making each unique while still keeping to the same vibe is a fun challenge

I really enjoy how real this one feels (it’s all studio work) This is using my “rangefinder” lens set-not actual rangefinder glass but to me they evoke the feeling of 50’s era rangefinder images. Also, the music is more D-05, the sounds it can make are all so weird and beautiful.
I went for a late 60’s/early 70’s vibe on the lighting/lensing here with the overexposed, bleeding backlight & textured/airy foreground light. To match, the song makes good use of the airy tones from a Roland d-05 I’ve been having fun with.
