🔴BREAKING NEWS📢
The Ministry of Forest Affairs Western Group just issued a statement😳
OFFICIAL STATEMENT - Ngogo Territory Kibale National Park, Western Uganda Issued; April 12, 2026 - 08:00 Hours Forest Time (HFT)
"To the attention of all Ugandans, the international community, global media, and all visiting human beings currently present or planning presence within our sovereign territory.
Our conflict with the Central Group is a sovereign military operation following the political crisis of 2015 and the disputed succession of our former Alpha leadership, and the ongoing killings of women and children.
Disregard any fake news that humans can't visit the forest. These are internal matters and they will be resolved soon.
However, since your media has chosen to make it your concern and characterising it as a "civil war." we are therefore issuing the following conditions to ensure safe passage for all human beings currently or still planning to be in our territory.
1. All visitors must maintain a minimum distance of 8 metres from our forces at all times. We are in an active combat.
2. No flash photography, consider this your only and last warning. We are at war not a planned photoshoot.
3. One hour maximum, no extensions, non negotiable.
4. No food left unattended, this is not a restaurant and all litter leaves with you. We are fighting for this forest, this is our land, this is our home.
5. Your face masks should be up all the times. We have already lost enough women and children in this on going conflict.
Ceasefire negotiations with the Central Group are ongoing, progress is still slow. The Alpha leadership question remains unresolved.
The war is ours, human beings can still visit the forest, responsibly."

Hello X family
We’re proud to share that @FairventuresUg (Now @GoodForestsUg) is partnering with #UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, to launch innovative projects under the #Refugee_Environmental_Protection_Fund.
Together with our consortium partners, we’re pioneering a carbon-financed model that connects reforestation, clean cooking and refugee protection across Uganda 🇺🇬 and Rwanda 🇷🇼.
In the pilot phase, we will:
👉 Support 50,000+ families with clean cooking solutions
👉 Restore 7,000+ acres of degraded land
👉 Empower communities through tree planting
👉 Begin generating high-quality carbon credits from 2027
Looking ahead, this partnership aims to restore 100,000+ hectares and bring clean cooking access to over 1 million refugees and host communities.
A bold step toward sustainable impact; for people and the planet

Yesterday started with a drive down to #Bigodi_Trading_Center, but it quickly turned into something much bigger.
Deep in #Kibale_Forest_National_Park, I got a firsthand look at the @ugwildlife#UWA_FACE project, where over 10,000 hectares of forest 🌱 are not just protected, but brought back to life through restoration.
Along the way, I sat down with Richard and Alfso. We talked through the real, everyday challenge of human-wildlife conflict 🐘 vs 👨🏾🌾 , how benefit-sharing actually works for communities and the livelihoods growing alongside conservation and protection.
Then came the unexpected twist. On our way back through the forest, we spotted #Chimpanzees 🐒 quietly moving through the #Forest. Alfso smiled and said we were very lucky 👉 you don’t usually see them in that part of the forest. Footsteps of buffalos and elephants were spotted too.
A reminder that sometimes, when restoration works… nature shows up to say 👉 thank you 👏🤝👌
