When I started this Office of Renewable Energy Siting (ORES) journey almost one-year ago, I naively thought I'd be among likeminded people who would do anything for the environment and the animals that call it home.

Boy did I have a lot to learn.

Nearly one-year later, I see that every element of this, from the foreign corporations cashing in on green energy credits, to the politicians funded by solar companies, to the nonprofits posing as "environmental advocates," are in on the grift.

We had a very interesting FOIL that was submitted to @NYSERDA come back this weekend. We requested a breakdown of every group, municipality, etc. that has received money from the ORES "intervenor fund." We are also able to see how much everyone received.

One group that immediately jumped out at me was the Grassland Bird Trust. The Grassland Bird Trust, if you recall, backed out of the Fort Edward Solar proceeding after taking money from Boralex. We don't get to know how much money they took from Boralex since that's a private transaction.

But what we do know is that in about a 12-month span, the Grassland Bird Trust was paid out $24,897.50 from this intervenor fund.

The ORES intervenor fund is designed to "empower local groups" as they push back on foreign billion dollar empires.

Really what the intervenor fund is designed to do is create "managed opposition." The Grassland Bird Trust never intended to sue New York State over the permit (this was stated). They played the game, like all of the other environmental nonprofits in bed with the green energy lobby, and never intended to stand up to the hand that feeds.

But that's not all...

The Grassland Bird Trust has been awarded $214,460 from 2018 to 2025 through the Environmental Protection Fund (EPF), doled out by New York State.

Is it not a conflict of interest for a group that claims it intends to protect grassland birds, only to bow out at the final hour after accepting money from Boralex, to also take money from an intervenor fund knowing full well they'd never challenge the permit, while also accepting grants from New York State?

This is the game most environmental nonprofits are playing in this state. And New York is smart to do this... they get everyone on their handouts knowing when it's time to destroy the environment through ORES, their obedient recipients, like the Grassland Bird Trust, will do as their told.

The losers? Grassland birds, pollinators, habitats, endangered species, migratory birds, local tourism, viewsheds, and prime farmland.

This FOIL was the start of us unraveling the dirty money that's exchanged behind the ORES curtain.

American Land Rescue Fund (our nonprofit) has never accepted a cent from New York State, the intervenor fund, the EPF, solar companies, or the "big oil" lobby.

That's why I am able to post what I do on here. And that's why I am everyone's worst nightmare.
