Sometimes leadership means getting out of the office and going where the work is happening. 👣🌍

And that’s exactly what @maria_alcalde Castro, @ippf Director General, did during her first visit to Africa since taking up her role. 🇰🇪💜

From conversations at our office, to seeing our work at our model facility, to listening directly to healthcare providers and young people, Maria didn’t just hear about the work—we had the opportunity to show her what it looks like on the ground.

- She listened to the experiences of young people.
- She met the people delivering care every day.
- She saw a locally led model working within the realities of Kenya’s communities.
- And she asked questions—not just about what we do, but what is working, what we are learning, and what can be taken forward across the wider IPPF movement. 🌍

Because sometimes, you can read a report, sit through a presentation or look at a dashboard…
But nothing quite compares to seeing the work first-hand.

That is where the gaps become clearer.
The innovations become tangible.
The voices behind the data become real.
And the lessons become much easier to carry forward. 💜

For RHNK, having Maria here was more than a visit. Under the leadership of our Executive Director, @nellymunyasia , we had the opportunity to share Kenya’s experiences, exchange learning, showcase locally led solutions and reflect together on how we keep building stronger, more responsive health systems 🤝🏽
