We’ve seen many playoff collapses in sports history before.
But we’ve never seen anything like the 24-point third quarter lead the Magic blew on Friday.
Last night, the Knicks completed the largest comeback in @NBA Finals history, erasing a 29-point deficit. The previous record was the Celtics trailing the Lakers by 24 points (Game 4, 2008). The only bigger comeback in postseason history was a 31-point comeback by the Clippers against the Warriors (Game 2, 2019).
Knicks, down 27 at halftime, set the record for the largest halftime deficit overcome to win a playoff game in league history. The previous record was the Thunder trailing the Grizzlies by 26 points (Game 3, 2025).
....wait there is more....
New York, down 20 with 9:33 left in the fourth quarter, also set the record for the biggest fourth-quarter comeback in the NBA Finals:
20-point comeback - Knicks 107 vs. Spurs 106 (June 10, 2026 - Game 4)
15 - Bulls 97 vs. Blazers 93 (June 14, 1992 - Game 6)
15 - Mavericks 95 vs. Heat 93 (June 2, 2011 - Game 2)
15 - Pacers 111 vs. Thunder 110 (June 5, 2025 - Game 1)
Biggest Series-Changing Brainfart moments in NBA Finals History (off the top of my head):
1.) Nick Anderson's 4 missed FTs (95- GM1)
2.) Worthy's turnover to Henderson (84 - GM2)
3.) Magic dribbling out the clock (84 - GM2)
4.) Fox's unnecessary layup attempt (2026 - GM 4)
5.) Courtney Lees's Blown Ally Oop (09- GM2)
6.) JR Smith's Timeout (2018 - GM 1)
@StanleySwanson0 I think it's Wemby own decision. Dude seeing his peer (Giannis, Shai, Jokic, Luka) not guarding the best player in opponent side at crunch time or any impactful moment in series
Spurs' Pathway to Game 6/7 (stated in an unreleased pod):
✅Get collectively good shooting game(s) from 2 out of Vassell/Champagnie/Keldon
✅Score 110+ points
✅Find formula to force ball out of Brunson in the clutch
Huge Game 3 win by checking all boxes!
Watching highlights from Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkoglu for my Orlando Magic and these two were special together.
I would love to see these two help Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner be great for this current Magic team and take them to that next level.
The “holy shit how did they get him for the minimum?” guy has become a championship staple lately.
Luke Kornet for the ‘24 Celtics. Otto Porter for the ‘22 Warriors. ‘20 Lakers had Morris, Rondo AND Dwight.
‘21 Bucks had Portis at the BAE. ‘23 Nuggets had Brown at the tax MLE.
The most talented team didn't always win the championship
- Future HOF in Year 3
- Two way and skilled Point Guard in Year 2
- Beating Rivals in 7 games series at Conference Finals
- Beating the guy with the most aura in 2nd round
Young guy sometimes getting too cocky
Watching Rashard Lewis highlights and Paolo Banchero from Duke highlights on YouTube.
I don't know who Sean Sweeney will add to his coaching staff for my Orlando Magic, but I hope that he brings Rashard with him so he can assist Paolo with his game.
I’m running out of words to describe KAT.
He made a monumental defensive leap at 30 years old, and has been the best player on his team during the most dominant stretch of playoff basketball we’ve ever seen.
Everything that makes the Knicks great works because his unique skill set makes it work. The combination of spacing, slashing, and rebounding is a complete outlier.
No wasted movements. Hyper efficient play. Constant energy and physicality on both sides of the ball. What a player.
Hopefully Sweeney see this.
In East Conference you need 3 pointer and above average defense to survive.
Almost every top team in East capable to do this (not Us tho) 🤣
