Illegal timber trafficking isn’t solely an environmental issue - it’s organized crime. Yesterday, I transferred key equipment for Namibia’s Wood Identification & Screening Center to Hon. Minister Lucia Iipumbu and Inspector General Joseph Shikongo. With $2M in advanced U.S. forensic technology, Namibia now has the only law-enforcement agency in Africa with this capability to identify illegally trafficked timber and disrupt criminal networks.
