Can't reply, because I was called a nazi antisemite for daring to question the narrative and got blocked.
You can have your mishna, gmora, pirkei avot, all of it.
Those are your books. That's why you mostly study them and not the Scripture and prophets hence the surprise.
@Orpheuseru@ZealouslyQuoted But if youโre Christian, this argument will go nowhere. Iโm not trying to convince you, but rather explain what we think and why your arguments donโt hold up against us. Believe what you want, but donโt tell us you know better than we do. Itโs our book after all
When Yosef's brothers sold him, they thought they had destroyed his future.
Yet through their betrayal, God prepared the very man who would later save them.
Sometimes we recognize God's providence only when we look back at the road we never wanted to walk.
@Orpheuseru@ariyaariIL Hey, if you want to preach to the Jews, you got to get on Paulโs level: get a good handle on the Greek, maybe Hebrew at this point, second temple history and learn to reason like Paul. I think youโre not ready for the deeper water.

Deut 12:21 refers to instructions 17:8โ11 gives judges authority to rule.
Neither explicitly states that the oral Torah was given at Sinai.
You're using an interpretation of Scripture to establish that your interpretation is the only true one.
@Orpheuseru@ZealouslyQuoted Devarim 12:21 and 17:8-11 for starters. But itโs more a general understanding that not everything in the Torah (Chumash) is explicitly described and can only be understood through oral tradition from Sinai (like slaughter, mamzer etc.). The rest of Tanach isnโt from Sinai
@SecretA30647695 Wasn't my intention to come off as bitter as I always try to have a well-mannered conversation.
Unfortunately, I am met with the utmost hostility, so please excuse me if I offended you in any way.
@SecretA30647695 I didn't say you blocked me or called me a nazi?
To quick to judge, rebbe, didn't you daven on yom kippur to repent from that?
Anyway, so if I walk right now into a yeshiva, I will find bohurim bend over Zecharia or Isiah?
Be truthful
@KahanJulie@realJohnDouglas One from Mary side, one of Joseph side who is adoptive father.
Talmud made up a concept of two messiahs. Ben Yosef and Ben David.
Funny how Jesus fits both definitions.
@David_pk23@growing_daniel I didn't expect rabbis of the talmud to make the connection that the person is the Messiah.
But they do consult the necromancer just to calm their nerves regarding the supposed faith of Jesus.
@IssureiBeiah613 Ok, you spoke of pshat.
How about a little migu here?
If I were inventing my background, wouldn't it be easier to pretend I'm still frum and argue from within?
Instead, I openly tell you I left the yeshiva and became a proud Catholic.
Why would I lie?
Hope that answers it.
@starbatsarah1 The whole foundation of rabbinic judaism was from onset created by the rabbis as a counter to the growing following of Jesus.
So yes, you might not admit it, but it's so much deeper than that even.
