On Wednesday November 20th 2024, the members of CROCEU were received in an audience by His All-Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew who appreciated the work done by the Committe.
Sad to learn of the unexpected passing away of Mgr. Noël Treanor, the Apostolic Nuntio to the EU.
We pray God for the repose of his soul and remain grateful for his life-long effort to articulate a Christian view on the EU and its founding, and therefore fundamental principles.
The Committee of Representatives of the Orthodox Churches to the EU (CROCEU) encourages all European Union citizens to cast their vote, choosing responsibly our common path for the future.

In addition to the common market, euro or Erasmus, President Jacques Delors was one of the main builders of the EU dialogue with the Churches. Convinced of the need for "a soul" for a united EU, he insisted that the Orthodox Church be present in the dialogue with EU institutions.
The instrumentalisation of religion in the context of the war in Ukraine, but also the important contribution of religious communities in receiving refugees and providing humanitarian aid, are discussed by religious leaders and EC representatives

On Ascention Day, which is also Heroes' Day in the Romanian Orthodox tradition, we humbly commemorated the Romanian soldiers from WW1 who are buried at the Comunal Cemetery in Mons, Belgium.
