Translation:
Reopening mental health clinics isn't real.
Taxing developers, corporations and LaSalle Street isn't real.
Fully funded public schools aren't real.
What is real: my landlord donors & promotions from the mayor.
.... democratic ... zoning? ... process? Huh?
Whatever happened to working out an entire plan with the developer and then telling having town halls where you tell the public to support it or they'll get nothing???
🧶In the 33rd ward we have a Community Driven Zoning Process (modeled after @CDRosa’s in the 35th) to democratize zoning decisions so that our communities have a say over how our neighborhoods are developed. The idea that all alders use their powers in corrupt ways is not true.
Tomorrow >110,000 vaccine appointments will be opening up at the new United Center vaccination site. Those over 65 can sign up either online at https://t.co/76lU1WmsxD or by calling 312-746-4835. Appts. open at 8:30 tomorrow morning.
Tank Noodle employees, past and present, I'd like to hear your story for @ChiTribFood: 'Tank Noodle to pay nearly $700,000 in back wages to 60 employees after federal investigation' https://t.co/F9Dxc0jXm9
Tank Noodle, whose owners came under fire for attending the Jan. 6 Trump rally, has been ordered to pay $700,000 in back wages to 60 employees.

As we all know, I have long opposed the undemocratic practice of appointments.*
Please remember this extremely progressive & principled act of bravery in 2023!
*does not apply to appointments that directly benefit me or my staff. Those are different!

I'm scolding my Southside colleague because my own constituents protested me for not supporting him. But I'm also voting for his ordinance. Someone explain me to me please.
Wow from @48Ward: "Ald. Sigcho-Lopez been alderman for 18 months and has shown his inability to work with the administration and his colleagues to get something done." Says he supports the 6-month freeze to see if Sigcho can "develop plans and work w/ colleagues" and the admin.
My friends,
I love cops. I love gentrification. You know this.
So when Pilsen said No Landmark Ordinance, I called my developer donors.
And when 48th Ward constituents came to my house tonight to demand I vote No, I called the police.
Police + Developers = Harry = <3
Hearing about the verdicts on Breonna Taylor's murderers, I rushed to send this email to the ward, letting them know I shared their anger and that they should visit these local restaurants for a delicious meal!
Hope that communicated my priorities. I still oppose CPAC.
I'm taking proactive steps to wait until after homelessness hits our communities to act! Keeping the police who will harass those homeless people fully funded, though.
Ald. @King4thWard says communities are "stepping up" to add homeless shelter capacity now, but city must prepare for "the larger issue" of increased homelessness as an effect of COVID. She and Housing Committee chair @48Ward say it'll be impt to consider in future budgets
I'm doing supply drives for local schools! If only I sat on some sort of "City Council" where we could fund the basics that children need to learn.
Funny how the police never need supply drives!

I'VE BEEN CHEWING MY PENCIL FOR 48 HOURS.... HOW DO I WRITE A VAGUE BOTH-SIDES STATEMENT ABOUT THE POLICE BEATING CHILDREN TO DEFEND A RACIST STATUE??? ... MOUTH FILLING WITH GRAPHITE!!!11...
It has been 48 hours since the Black Indigenous Rally in which young activists were brutalized by the Chicago Police Department over a Columbus statue, and Alderman Osterman has not released a statement. Even James Cappleman has made a statement.
As my alderneighbor to the south, James sends me a lot of his inner thoughts and "poems" as he calls them. Most are quite disturbing. What goes on his head, no man can comprehend.
On Tuesday, Alderman Harry Osterman greeted our members by saying, "Are you here to defend @marydifino?" Clearly, five days after the town hall, he was still shaken from being called out.
