Honestly, I touched grass.

We believe we need the perfect partner in order to settle down. In reality, all you need is someone who sees you.

I met that person on Twitter in 2022.

How I ended up as 30 and single is a story in of itself, but here I was. And I was deeply depressed. I thought I’d be married with a baby by 25 at the latest, it didn’t happen that way for me.

I got on Twitter in 2021 bc I was lonely, seeking likeminded people. By goofing around I found them – and then he found me! The first thing my husband ever said to me was “my wife” in a comment.

I thought he was funny, so I invited him to tag along for a concert – which he did. I found his spontaneity impressive.

At the time I still had my biases and thought my ideal man was a certain type. So my now husband and I were “just friends” for a year before it hit me that this guy actually makes me really happy!

He didn’t fit into the image I had of my future husband, which was exactly what I needed bc what I had been doing in the past clearly hadn’t worked.

I decided to embrace our differences and love his imperfections – and that my friends, is how you get married.

There is no perfect person waiting out there for you. There are only people who make you feel either good or bad, choose someone who makes you feel good.

Looks fade, money gets old, a career is a nice label, none of it matters. What matters is how responsible the person is, how they treat you and whether or not you have the same life ambitions (like wanting children - ALWAYS be upfront about that or keep wasting your time).

So my advice is this: Choose your partner based on shared values, beliefs and ambition, and be open to finding happiness with someone unconventional. Bc I did!

@anishgiri @chessmonitor As a kid, used to dream about beating my dad without a handicap. Now, despite having neglected chess for a decade between, I beat him in 10 out of 10 games. Objectives have now changed however, aiming for that IM title while not doing it professionally. Android.
