Ready to lead fellow youth?
The Kenya National Youth Council @NYC_YouthVoice elections are scheduled to take place in July 2026.
This marks the second time in 14 years that youth representatives will be elected through a structured national process.
Key Election Dates
The elections follow a tiered grassroots-to-national structure:
>>Ward Level: 5th July, 2026.
>>Constituency Level: 16th July, 2026.
>>National Congress: 27th July, 2026.
Election Process & Structure
The process is designed to ensure representation from every part of the country:
>>Ward Level: Youth across 1,450 wards will elect 6 representatives per ward (3 men and 3 women), totaling 8,700 elected members nationwide.
>>Constituency Level: The 8,700 ward delegates will convene at the constituency level to elect 2 representatives (one man and one woman) for each of the 290 constituencies.
>>National Level: The 580 constituency representatives will form the National Youth Congress. They will elect 8 members to the National Youth Council, who will then provide national leadership and nominate a chairperson.
Eligibility and Participation
To participate as a candidate or voter, you must meet the following criteria:
Age: Must be between 18 and 35 years old.
Identification: Possess a valid National Identification Card.
Registration: Must be a registered voter on the official National Youth Council website, https://t.co/8DwzPj8X1X
Candidate Nomination: Candidates must secure nominations from at least 50 registered youths.📷https://t.co/8DwzPj8X1X
Official Oversight
The Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports has established a National Steering Committee and an Election Supervisory Committee to oversee the process, ensuring transparency and accountability.
A 60-day nationwide voter education programme will precede the elections to inform participants about the process.
