@SWOOZYgoblin278@OverEazy3@Alex_Ortodoxie James 1:26-27
“If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one's religion is useless.”
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
This is the verse in my mind. Tell me how I’m misinterpreting it

@SWOOZYgoblin278@SincereHyp44120@trad_presby I agree with the intent (Jay calling out someone for being cowardice so they wake up from being a coward) but I never agreed that how he went about it is good or fine, still wrong
@SincereHyp44120@SWOOZYgoblin278@trad_presby It’s the intent to hurt their feelings without some goal of hopefully restoring them. Bullying people is not permissible. Challenging them, sometimes using strong words, with a goal to build them up is different. That’s not what’s going on here though and you know that.
@thisisninosway At your parishes, are clergy calling lay people faggots and racial slurs like a Jay Dyer comment section? Or is it different from online?
For a sect that prides itself of theosis and “putting to death the passions of the flesh” Orthodox Christians are some of the absolute meanest, prideful, foul mouthed fleshly people I’ve ever encountered.
@SincereHyp44120@SWOOZYgoblin278@trad_presby Yeah, someone who obviously isn’t gay, calling them that is slandering them. It’s also impure speech which the apostle Paul says to not engage in.
