@vikktorrrre It's much better than the absurd religions n self serving leaders .
Once we know we don't have free will...it's different society.... The society we have built is on the assumptions that we have free will.. the next will be without it
@badbirb@Cthulu_Saves@orvieto_antonio That is the reason best minds working inside and outside AI talk about alignment not containment.
Many belive in stopping it and I'm not one among them .
@badbirb@Cthulu_Saves@orvieto_antonio If you can act or react ONLY after my action ..who is controlling whome ? Since it was just hacking a australian gov site. It's manageable or reversible what if the damage is irreversible? And how sure are you AI won't or can't find better ways than us ?
@badbirb@Cthulu_Saves@orvieto_antonio It's not unproven ,look at the math dump from openAI , best mathematicians in the world can't figure out the results. Or look at the incidence where both models did something n best minds knew what happened ONLY after something went wrong.
@badbirb@Cthulu_Saves@orvieto_antonio My point was AI is not like any other tool,Pls study what the agents of openAI and Claude did . You cant guard against something which is smarter than collective humanity. It's like Amazon tribe trying to figure out quantum. And that's what researchers are worried about.
@badbirb@Cthulu_Saves@orvieto_antonio It's exponential is what I'm trying to explain, stone, sword , gun, missile, nuclear. Each needed specialisation and not everyone can do it and we are thankful..no ? Now think if everyone can ..that's the problem
@badbirb@Cthulu_Saves@orvieto_antonio I will disagree with you that AI is just another tool .
Let me give you simple example to prove it.
If i ,you or some fanatic wants to do harm ( we need too many resources, different skills to make a huge damage and that probability is almost zero.)
But AI can do all and more .
@neiltyson@neiltyson StarTalk: Does knowing come before understanding, or understanding before knowing? We often know before we understandβbut don't we need some understanding to truly know? If AI βknows everything but understands nothing,β where do you draw that line?
@MasterMaliq Why should military power be part of the mechanism by which a universal religious message is established or expanded at all?
Jesus, Buddha, mahaveer did it without wars
@3Fonta@orvieto_antonio If a human solved it instead, would you also say βlet the others try their best to preserve purposeβ and that publishing the solution is accelerating their fall?
@3Fonta@orvieto_antonio You're misreading me. I'm not defending loss of purpose or asking people to give up. I'm pointing out that purpose and meaning are properties of a dynamic systemβthey can emerge, change, and even disappear under different conditions.
@3Fonta@orvieto_antonio Jaco, In life people keep losing purpose, meaning due to heartbreak, lose of loved ones or out of millions of people who tried to solve a frontier problem only one or two get to solve it. It's how life and purpose are structured
@StuartHameroff Stuart , i belive there is a simple answer to WHY.
Possibility of laws made it happen.
All chemical formations are possible so they happened.
@3Fonta@orvieto_antonio There are no human stories around fire or wheel but we use them, If AI discovered a cure for cancer, would you care less because there wasn't a beautiful human story behind it? If not, then why should mathematics be different?
@noesis89474724@orvieto_antonio You're answering a claim I didn't make. I never said mathematical standards of correctness are culturally relative. I'm distinguishing the cultural value of the discovery story from the epistemic status of the mathematical result. Those are different things.
@noesis89474724@orvieto_antonio Culture evolves. What one generation considers a beautiful or meaningful way of doing mathematics can change completely in another.
That's precisely why I distinguish cultural value from epistemic value. Cultural norms aren't what determine whether a mathematical result is correct
