That spot was a parking space painted with the letter R for reserved.
They started digging. On the very first day, in the first trench, they hit human bones right under the R.
It was him. The spine curved hard to one side from scoliosis, which meant the Tudor stories about a twisted king were not pure propaganda after all, though the drooling monster Shakespeare wrote was. The skull told the rest. He had been hacked at least ten times. Part of the back of his head was sliced clean off by a blade, the wound that likely killed him.
