@LKPleasehold@mtpennycook Flammable homes? Crumbling homes?
They are rewarding rogue developers, I don't think quality and durability will come out of it
@mhclg Leasehold is missing, why?
It is human rights violation but not a priority.
Plenty of perfectly fine homes, unsellable because of leasehold. Plenty of homes that could be put in the market, faster than building new ones, and safer than new homes built by the rogue developers
@cattwil@LostInSW19@mtpennycook Yes, but they did some works that were supposed to be moved forward soon after.
About the lease extension, is it becoming a law? If so, when? It looks to me it is being dropped
@AngelaRayner@crisis_uk By building flammable buildings? By building leasehold property? Which is by the way, not home ownership, and by definition a breach to human rights.
That's life changing, but the wrong way, you either lose your life savings, or your life, in some cases both
#lies
@gamecounsel@EOCS_Official@simon170528@bbcpointswest They are in charge of evacuate the building in case of fire. Most buildings in the country are designed with a stay put policy (so silent alarm only).
One person cannot work 24/7. So it is a team, but one shift at the time
@LeaseholdIsACon The problem is that there is not enough offer. You can blame people who want to by a flat to protect themselves from ever rising rent. What will they do went they will be retired, most people can barely afford a rent while working
@gamecounsel@PatjMason Also they said they would do it within 100 days. Surely, they had a plan if they were saying they could do it in this time frame. Or it was just a lie to get elected. Both ways doesn't look good on them
@gamecounsel@PatjMason Not with another consultation for sure.
But there's plenty of actions that could be taken now. Forbid leasehold on new homes, cap ground rent so homes that are currently not sellable can be sold. That would help the housing market immediately. Building new homes takes much longer
@gamecounsel@PatjMason They delayed it. They are not doing it right now. Who knows if they are actually going to do it. It might only be another broken promise = a lie.
We could see at last elections that liars didn't get elected, let see for the next elections
@GlennSeat I wonder what quality these inspections are. The fire safety inspections are a joke. I had countless inspections of my front door across the years. The door is still not right.
@HarryScoffin@UKLabour@Dan4Barnet@LukeTaylorLD You are optimistic with 4 or 5 years, they might push it under the carpet as they are doing right now. They could have make some quick wins. I don't believe in promises but in action
@EthanJWhitlock2 @Ollsbols1234@BBCNews Yes, it doesn't make any sense. But freeholders are trying to make us believe they are needed, when most countries in the world do not need them. Somwhow the UK is special. They still think that we are in the middle ages and the plebs don't know what is happening abroad
