Drops impacting textiles is a common occurance. How the details of the texture control spreading and splashing is the focus of our newly published paper. Hamza Iqbal, @MQuetzeri, @RafaelCastrejon, @oxengsci@uclmecheng https://t.co/ebnD530dtq

This is Alva's first first-author paper, and they cap the paper off with beautiful images of very strongly chiral droplets, which develop a colourful fingerprint texture in both the experiments and simulations!
Thanks to @oxengsci, @royalsociety, @EPSRC and John Fell Fund Oxford!
How does the interplay between chirality in liquid crystals and the shape of inkjet printed droplets affect the structures that form within them? We answer this in a paper in @softmatter by @alvacjorr with X.Qiu, @FluidsTom, @waqaskamal16, and @alfonsoacp https://t.co/o7FJ5fzE9e
The mechanism behind this was identified using advanced numerical simulations in collaboration with Julia Yeomans @OxfordPhysics, showing that randomness in the initial quench of the nematic droplet during the printing process can lead to different outcomes.
'We stand together in opposition to violence, racism and Islamophobia.'
VC Prof Irene Tracey has written a joint message with leaders from @OxfordHealthNHS, @OxfordCity, @OxfordshireCC & @oxford_brookes following scenes of violent disorder across the UK.

In this work, we explore how the impact of a drop onto a pool is modified by the presence of a floating layer of an immiscible liquid. In these movies we show a drop of water impacting a layer of silicone oil floating on a pool of water: experiments and simulations agree well!
Ben Fudge's latest paper published today! A very nice piece of research, combining high-res simulations and high-speed imaging @oxengsci@wadhamoxford https://t.co/4mzaTeeShq with @rcimpeanu@alfonsoacp https://t.co/JFULDO8l4L
This paper represents the culmination of hard work developing an EHD DoD device to create micron-sized liquid crystal drops for optoelectronic applications. Well done @WaqasKamal16 for leading the research!! https://t.co/qANh407c1X
