With every bit of my professional authority, I am saying that no woman who values her safety should ever stay at a Travelodge.
Travelodge does not care about the safety of their female guests. Their security protocols are so nonexistent that the @TravelodgeUK in Maidenhead, following hotel policy, gave a woman’s hotel room key to a stranger in the middle of the night — without calling her to get permission — because he knew her name and claimed to be her boyfriend.
She woke up to find him sexually assaulting her.
To clarify: Travelodge in Maidenhead gave a sexual predator the key to a woman’s hotel room - a room in which she was the only registered guest - because they failed to train their people to check with her first, and she was sexually assaulted as a result.
By way of an apology, they offered her a £30 refund.
I don’t know how civil litigation works in the UK, but I hope to god that this woman can sue Travelodge for enough money to put the entire chain out of business for good.
This appalling incident isn’t the fault of one lazy clerk; it’s the fault of a major hotel chain that can’t be arsed to train its employees to follow basic safety procedures, and that doesn’t give a flying rat’s ass about the fact that they got a guest sexually assaulted in her sleep.
Handing the key to a guest’s room to someone who isn’t registered is absolutely insane, and to offer a woman £30 in compensation after she woke up with a predator on top of her because of their negligence is both a gross insult and clear evidence that Travelodge corporate culture sees sexual assault as no big deal. (For reference, a room at that specific location usually costs between £40 and £70 per night.)
If you’re a woman, find a different hotel. No matter how cheap Travelodge may be, it’s not worth getting raped.

We’ve just seen a fox fleeing for its life with a load of hounds from the Cottesmore Hunt charging in the same direction and we’ve seen no attempts by the hunt to call them off. Blatant illegal fox hunting in front of our eyes.

Hey @TravelodgeUK
🚨A Travelodge let someone into woman’s room to sexually assault her, then offer her £30 compensation & defend their actions!🚨
Outrageous.
Review your security procedures.
How can women stay safely in your hotels otherwise?

Women are at serious risk when staying at @TravelodgeUK. The hotel staff who gave a man a key to a woman's room at 3am were apparently following security procedures 'correctly' which beggars belief since:
❌She was checked in as a single woman.
❌They didn't phone her to check if he really was her boyfriend and welcome in her room.
❌They didn't accompany him to the room and knock.
❌They gave him a key card because he knew her name.
After he let himself in and sexually assaulted her, Travelodge offered her a £30 refund.
This is even more horrifying since it is not the first time this has happened. James Cox was convicted in 2025 of raping a woman in a Travelodge in Liverpool. You might think Travelodge would have instigated better security after such an incident, instead it seems to be aiding and abetting sex offenders. https://t.co/nbW0ssFBP2
A woman was accused of 'cop-shopping' by police because she'd been to 2 different police stations to report her ex-husband for stalking and threatening her.
They told Kelly she needed to ‘cool off’ and to 'give him a break’.
He stabbed her and burned her to death just days later.

Woman was kidnapped, raped and murdered walking home. Five years later women gather to remember her. And the loudest voices in the replies are men saying “not all men.” This is why women are tired. Give it a rest, men. Let her rest. #SarahEverard

☎️07817497995 This lovely boy was brought into kennels after being found roaming as a stray. Unfortunately he is not microchipped so we do not know his name or exact date of birth. The kennels have named him Forrest and aged him around 8 months old. Initially he was a little nervous but he has never shown any signs of aggression. He arrived at kennels in an emaciated state. Forrest needs all aspects of training including house training. We have seen no negative reactions from Forrest towards other dogs but he will need further socialisation as he is so young. Breed experience is essential for Forrest. Forrest is very playful and friendly – he is highly intelligent & will need an active home.
